I have been using Serato for several years now and I love it. And just like many of you, I use it with CDJs and vinyl. But I love it with CDj's and I have my reasons.
I play out 2-3 times every week and I found out that using it with 1200's can have many issues.
Serato with 1200's vs CDJs. You decide. There's a lot more issues with using 1200's vs CDJs. Here's a few examples.
1200...
- True Vinyl Emulation & feel.
- Needle Dropping
- Calibration.. You have to calibrate each time. This is a pain.
- Damaged Needles... If you're needles go bad or brake, you're ed.
- Ground Wire can cause your virtual deck to spin backwards.
- Feedback s a bitch
- RCA's Get all jacked up on the 1200's easily.
CDJ's...
All those problems go away.
- Easy set up.
- You can hook up Serato without pluging or unpluging anything from the mixer. This is a BIG PLUS!!!!
- No calibration needed.
- No Feedback like on the 1200's.
- No Needle Dropping :(
- CDJ800's Instant Loops are No Good
- You Loose Any Special Features on the CDJs such as special effects on the Denon's.

| I guess your alternative is Virtual DJ also known as Virtual Vinyl with Numark. Don't Need DVJs, because it does video as well. |

I've seen a few guys control Virtual DJ with the Serato Timecode CDs. That is cool, but I rather wait for Serato 1.8 to come out with full video support.

Oh here's an added bonus.

| It is going to cost extra. But nothing too ridiculous. Serato made that announcement late last year. They will also release a Pitch & Time plug in for Serato, and that will also be extra. But it's a high quality time correction plug in for Serato. |

Looping on CDJs works in Torq, not sure about Serato. If SSL is like Torq though, you're better off using the software looping as it's much more accurate. |
