i just "love" how the media is playing this one up feeding off the sensationalism of Virginia Tech. Meanwhile this event has nothing to do with the other. Murders happen all the time in Toronto. Why is this one so sensational yet the other ones are passing stories? Because of Virginia Tech obviously. They know they can whip up frenzy by making faux connections to Virginia Tech.
I think the 2 most disgusting aspects of the story is how they showed the mother collapsing right when she learned of her son's death. The other when they were interviewing a mother at the school and the resporter actually told her that the boy died just to get her instant reaction on film.
There are some things that should remain private. Today's media has NO respect for anyone or anything. |

its on film n the news poeple keep showing it because people get entertained by it. i think we learned that on september 11 2001. that day showed us that people r completely greedy for thrilling entertainment no matter if this is real or not. |

but sept 11 didnt actually show the people dying or falling out of buildings.
I dont think entertained is the word. I think it shocks people and they tune in to see if they are the next ones that are going to be shot. |

oh yea totally man, the alternative was way better to get a high school diploma, ur not surrounded by a bunch of wankers. |
NEWSFLASH: The world is full of wankers. They are unavoidable. It's nice to see that it takes a death of a poor kid for you to be thankful you dropped out of highschool.
Highschool is really not that hard, and probably the most influencial time of your life... but to each his own.

And who the hell is entertained by this? Fellow sickos??
They are just trying to convey the fact that it is reality, and the shock of something so dramatic is very effective to reach other people who don't fully understand the scale in which it affects others.
Did they catch the killer? I don't remember reading if they did or not :conf: |

They did apparently. I didn't see it because I was at school until it happened and didn't want to watch anything about it afterward...I just felt sadness.
Yeah, it's blown out of proportion...damned media. |

I'm not gonna sit here and disagree the media over sensationalizes stories like this. But to me it is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed. This is way more than another "murder" this is in a school, in public, involving kids. This should never happen EVER and there needs to be public out cry to do something about it.
Seeing the mom collapse and cry just as she found out her son was dead was one of the most heart wrenching things I have ever seen on TV. As much as she deserves privacy and respect we the people need to be moved so we don't just watch the TV emotionally detatched not caring for the lives involved. |
