Keep blaming Miller and forget the cut social services for urban youth of the Harris/Lastman regiemes. :rolleyes:
These problems develop over time. Without proper social net that can show troubled kids that there is life outside the ghetto and that there is hope to do good for themselves.
The current generation of youth in Toronto did not have this. |

Poverty does not cause crime, that's been proven quite extensively, and violent crime in Toronto was at a 30-year low while Mel Lastman was in office. It only started going up again a few years ago. I'm not saying that Miller is directly responsible for the increase - he probably isn't, but his attitude is not helping the situation.
Cutting free-money social services was one of the best things that Mike Harris ever did. Most ghetto families need a kick in the ass, not a crutch. Need I remind you that the Italians, Irish, Jews, Koreans, and various other ethnic groups also lived in ghettoes, and did quite well at making better lives for themselves without any government assistance. Black and Latino families, on the other hand, have received more free money than any other group in history, and seem to be the worst off so far.
Coincidence? Maybe - but at the very least, it's hard to say with a straight face that any underclass group needs taxpayer money in order to improve economically or survive at all. It's especially unlikely that economic conditions will change when welfare pays better than many low-skill jobs in the area. |

i overheard on the subway a "brotha" said he know him and it was b/c he was chasing after other "brotha's" with fireworks....
whatever the reason is it will never be e good enough reason :( |

i really hope they throw the book at him enough is enough thes
young punk's think they can do what ever they want and get away with it that i hope you rot in jail... |

They've arrested 2 people now, and they're still looking for more suspects. |
