Ugh this is tempting to make the drive from LI. I'd have to take a day off of work which means I take the chance of not getting paid. I'll prob just wait until Central Park.

I can't imagine driving to Boston to go see PVD mail it in for a 4 hr, 10-2 slot.

well if anything, u could stay to see Filo and Peri at Rise till 6am...now that might make things worthwhile if u intended to make it a wknd. i would so do it if i didnt already have a packed wknd :(

itd be so nice to visit boston again, i def gotta do it before summers out

the extra 2 hours of pvd at avalon is great ing news!:tongue3
wildstar75
Wow, 4 hours. Thats awesome news. You know its summer when PVD comes to Avalon! Lets see if he can perform, his most recent productions have been garbage. Im hoping to hear some new stuff from his forthcoming album.
wildstar75
Oh NO!!! I just heard his first single from his new album and its called White Lies.

COMPLETE GARBAGE!!! This is not the PVD that got me into trance. This is not the PVD I used to love to see at Axis. Ive now heard 3 tracks (partial) off his new album and they are so damn terrible!!! Supposedly he has prepared 28 tracks for his new album and is currently deciding which will make the cut, I hope all 3 that Ive heard dont make it. Im sure he'll throw down a nice hard set like he usually does and then end it all with anthem. So yes Im still going but between this and Chicanes new single, Im a bit depressed today.

If you want to hear White Lies and judge for yourself:

On Friday June 8th, Paul van Dyk will be taking over the controls at Europe’s biggest radio station, BBC Radio 1. While Eddie Halliwell is away on tour, the BBC have asked Paul to step in and present the 2 hour show, which will include 3 exclusive mixes of tracks carefully selected by the World’s Number One DJ. Paul starts the show with his fantastic forthcoming single “White Lies”, and will also be running an amazing competition as part of the programme. You can also listen online all over the world at www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 !

chill out! this will have no impact on his set. he can produce (and try to sell) whatever the he wants. it's not all going good and everyone knows this, but the chances of you even hearing that track at avalon are slim. i think it's pretty obvious this is not a 'blow the roof off' pvd track. he's probably just trying to score a radio hit and that has nothing to do with club events

Im chill, I dont even care if he plays it, it will give me a chance to get a drink or goto the bathroom. But its just very dissapointing. Its not just one song.

Between White Lies, Complicated, Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around Remix, and his remix of 2Raumwohnung - 36 Grad, Im starting to see a pattern. Like I said in my first post, I believe he'll still throw down a pretty hard bangin set like he usually does every summer. But his most recent productions have really trended downwards in my opinion. Even Vandit as a label isnt what it used to be.

Anyways, Im guessing he'll be testing a few songs out on us in order to test what goes into the album. I hope the show kicks ass. Ive never seen PVD suck live! But I feel like everytime I see him I say that was good, but he was better last time.

Best PVD show Ive been to: Gainesville FL Simons 10th anniversary. That was about 10 years ago!

Best PVD show at Avalon: The night of the power outage about 5 years ago.

I believe I have both nights on mp3 if anyone wants them.
umes23
the power outage one was great.

it will be good. all indications from recent pvd events lead me to think so.

meanwhile i'm 99% sure this album will be a lot better than reflections, which is all i can hope for. it won't be his most inspried music. who is to say whether he will ever make music as inspired as what many old listeners consider his best ever. no one!
