This new bitch of a store manager just got hired, Polly. I've worked at my (ex) job for 2 years. She apparently told the regional boss EVERYTHING that I was doing "wrong" (which amounts to not using measuring cups to pour out milk when I make hot chocolates...which I can do by sight since I've been working there FOR TWO YEARS). And apparently I'm not very puncutual...which is definitely not true.
So I go to work today, 15 minutes early for my shift ...my regional manager meets me outside and asks for my key. And then procedes to tell me that he's going to have to let me go and that it's been a long time coming. Polly (the name should say it all) informed him of everything. So I then say I have to go inside to grab my . He says that he can't let me inside :wtf: and that he will grab my stuff for me. This is a RETAIL STORE and there are NO customers inside at the moment, so I sit there and argue with him for 30 seconds about why I can't be let in to grab my stuff. I go in, and Polly is there. She doesn't even look at me. Grrrr...
And the most ed up thing is that this girl I work with is a complete spaz. She threw a plate at my former store manager, DIDN'T GET FIRED. She fabricated an e-mail, pretending to be a customer, in order to get their other girl fired, in which she was. Once again, no repercussions.
Life's a bitch.

If only I could actually do that. I worked there "full-time" but unofficially. So, no benefits. I don't feel so bad because the managers have royally ed themselves over. I talked to my friend whom works there also and she has been thinking about leaving for a while. This put her over the edge and she's putting in her 2 weeks now. It's hilarious because after she leaves, they'll have 4 employees in the entire store, which is in the busiest part of Burlington...there is usually 10-12 employees on the schedule. Hah hah.
I just had an interview at a pretty chill pizza/pub place a few blocks away from my apartment. The boss said he has a few shifts for me, and I guess a full-time girl just quit...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. A few of my friends work there too and they told me they wrote a '10' on the top of my application...which stands for 'hot'. :nervous: but I'll take it for what it's worth :gsmile: |

btw, were it a high-paying job you could hypothetically file for "Wrongful Termination". However, lawyer would charge you an arm and a leg and even if you win, your winnings won't amount to much... Unless a) you were being paid a lot of money b) would be out of work for long time and c) prove beyond any doubt that termination WAS in-fact biased and wrongful. |

if there is truely no reason for the firing and you can prove it....sue em!
but realise you prolly won't get another job after that. |

Lake Champlain Chocolates on the Church St Marketplace

being a barista bitch. The owner of the company wouldn't even let us have a tip jar.
*edit*: also, in Vermont, an employer doesn't NEED a reason before firing an employee. |

Why don't you put together a resume and try for an office job? You'd be surprised how many people work in professional jobs that are young, not very experienced and (not relating to you) are clueless. I'm sure you'd be able to wing it, if you're clever. Besides, the pay and prospects are there to be had. I had my first "office" job when I was 19... making $36K/yr. :)
If u need help with resume, holla. I used to write tons of them for my students (taught at computer school).
good luck, don't fret it. could be a good move and motivate you to take a step in a right direction.
cheers. |
