Hehehe.

C'mon, does it really matter ?

To all the people who say they don't need drugs - more power to you. But again, you don't NEED nice clothes, good food, fast cars and such. It's a luxury. So are drugs. They just come at a different cost, it is up to you to decide if you can afford it or not.

Well, at least nobody started posting self-righteous comments.

I'm not trying to single you out here - a lot of people say the same thing, that E enhances the music.

Although I haven't taken E myself, I know a few people who dropped a pill each during a *huge* party in Montreal recently (involving the words "Bal" and "Blanc" - wink wink). Afterwards, they didn't remember a damn thing about the music. All they would talk about is how ed over they were and how great of an experience it was:

"Do you remember when PvD played Punk? I went ing nuts!!!"
"Ummm...not really..."
"Huh? WTF? It was such a blast when he spun that one."
"Well...all I remember is sitting on my ass in a corner..but BOY was that great!"

.... :conf:

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see the point of spending (wasting, rather) $80 CAD just to sit in a dark corner blazed off your ass while Paul Van Dyk is spinning a few metres away from you. It's a huge missed opportunity, and quite disappointing.

Please note that I am *not* criticizing the use of drugs in general (I would just be a hypocrite then ;)), but am rather pointing out that one must be aware of what he or she is getting into. Although you might be "gaining a new perspective on life," you are MISSING out on a ton. Just ask those people who don't even remember what they were listening to, for Christ's sake. Of course, if you're prepared beforehand with sober friends nearby in case of emergency, in a nice, comfortable environment, etc., then you're well off - as long as you are prepared to accept the possible consequences (bad trips, etc.).

On the other hand, some drugs are just plain blown out of proportion. Take cannabis for example. For thousands of years it has been used as a recreational drug, as leniently and casually as people smoke tobacco today (and with FAR less of a health risk - FAR FAR less).

In the end, it's really the cultural ideas and ideals that are imposed upon people, sometimes against their will, that determine what is "acceptable" and what isn't.

(speaking to everyone in general here) Furthermore, please don't say that "drugs are for losers" and that "I don't need them" because then you are generalizing the entire issue and are missing out on a new and different experience (but a totally *optional* experience - you can enjoy yourself perfectly well - and sometimes even more so - without it). I believe that there are 2 types of drug users. The first type is hopelessly addicted to their habit, and waste their lives away (heavy coke users, etc.). These can be labelled the "losers" if you so wish. The second type are the ones who take drugs from time to time for recreation - but usually not the addictive drugs (in that case they would fall into group 1). These people lead normal lives, with normal jobs and normal relationships (and personalities), going out for a smoke or something occasionally and not as a habit. Usually cannabis is the drug of choice here.

I might add that those who take drugs during raves/parties just for the sake of taking the drug, totally ignoring/forgetting the music, I firmly and decisively place witin the first group of drug users (i.e. the "losers"). Especially when showing their hypocritical nature afterwards when they claim they are "lovers of [insert musical genre]" when they can't even remember what they were listening to.

Just my (very long) $0.02 rant on drugs and drug use. Feel free to disagree with any or all of it.

Good point there, I'm glad that you had a good time!

I guess that the people I went with to the BeB just had some strong stuff (for one of them it was their 1st time) or "low tolerance" (is there even such a thing where drugs are concerned?), so they probably were way too affected/afflicted (hehe) to remember anything of import.
gOuRYeLLa~!

Those who cant get fun without it in a normal way.

Get a life plz

"Drugs is for kiddies" - thats one of the dumbest quotes ive possibly ever heard in my life.

Some people don't take drugs to have fun. They do it to explore a new state of mind. Sure trance can take you to another dimension but not like drugs can. I used to think the same as you Trance Seeker. The whole "drugs are bad episode" but my views are different now. Im not a drug addict and im not hooked on drugs. I have total control of my self and my mind. I do the occassional E here and there but I can definately have fun without it listening to trance. Your mind is ing powerful and drugs exercise your thoughts to the limits. Its good sometimes and its bad sometimes. Ill stop when it becomes bad.

You obviously are quite young, so instead of making stupid comments such as "get a life plz" keep it to yourself and try excerise your mind eh :)
