yikes...having a mother in and out of a mental institution couldn't have been fun, regardless of whether or not you were living with her at the time. didn't your dad die when you were young too? :(
my best girlfriend growing up had a crazy mother. she was bipolar and i remember i'd sleep over and her mom would start vacuuming at like 4 in the morning and . she was bipolar with major OCD. lol crazy .
oh and my parents are pretty "normal" in that aspect although my mom can be a spaz and i'm sure she's made a scene or 2, but nothing major that i remember.
my dad has a lot of crazy stories about stuff he's done, but no senial episodes at a restaurant like igk. lol if my parents started doing that, i would just pay the bill and leave. |

Actually it WAS fun. My mother was always a lot of fun when she was "crazy". We were little at the time, so to us most of the time it was great.
There were some scary moments, but nothing we didn't understand...and we always knew our parents loved us no matter what happened.
My father died when I was 14. |

oh yea i remember one time i was at the beach with my mom when i was little (like 8 or 9) and we were getting ready to leave and as i'm folding up my towel and stuff my mom starts acting really weird and tells me to just put my towel back down and sit still. i'm like, "why? i thought we were leaving, bla bla bla" and she's like, "jamie just do what i said" and i got all nervous like, "umm ok".
so i'm just sitting there and my mom is staring at someone and i notice it's like this older guy sitting about 20 ft away from us and i know something is up so i'm like, "mom what's going on" and she tells me that she thinks that guy is going to follow us home and that she just had a really bad vibe about him. he was staring at us the whole day apparantly and as soon as we started to pack up our , so did he, so then my mom decided to stay and he did the same thing. he was literally ready to go and then saw us stay and so then he put his towel back down too. so that's when my mom knew something was up.
so then a few minutes later my mom is just like screw this. so we pack our stuff (he starts packing his stuff too) and we walk to our car and i'm freaking out at this point. my mom is like staring him down too as we walk and i'm like, "mom stop looking at him!" lol and then once we get in the car he gets in his and starts literally following us in the car and my mom pulls into this really nice residential area and i'm freaking out. she parks the car (he followed us in there) and gets out of her car and is like, "can i help you !? would you like to follow us straight to the police station because that's my next stop!"

he took off after that.
i was really scared when that happened, but looking back that is funny. my mom can be pretty confrontational and crazy when the situation calls for it. |

it wasn't that it was such a huge scene, its more about whats behind acting that way. my mom explained it to me when i was an adult. he enjoys withholding money and trying get a reaction out of people. i guess its a power play. for example he likes to see how long he can put off paying bills, when i was living at home every few months the broadband cable would get shut off because he hadn't payed the bill.
i find him annoying but since he's my dad i just have to accept him with his faults. |

| Yeah, it's interesting to grow up and learn about your parents as PEOPLE...and stop seeing them as just your mom and dad. |

u TOTALLY do that all the time to ppl on TA. u make little remarks and pretend you're kidding and then when someone gets offfended and disses you back, you're like, "i was just jk, relax:p"
i guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. |

| one time i got really drunk after my mom was ignoring me because i told her that my bf would probably not watch "chronicle: barbados". i got insanely drunk, she ended up calling the ambulance and i told them not to take me to the hospital. we got into a big fight later on that night. i HID the bottle of vodka in one of my bags and the next mornign when i come back over (i went over to my sister's place later that night after the argument) to talk to her, i see the bag i hid the vodka in was OPENED. we had a talk and then she ASKED ME WHERE THE BOTTLE OF VODKA WAS. i was looking all over the place and i asked her if she knew where it was because i had a feeling she took it. SHE THEN WAS LIKE "YOU CANNOT LEAVE HERE WITHOUT FINDING THAT BOTTLE". i knew she had the bottle because i found the bottle tag in the kitchen a few months later and then my sister told me a week ago that she FOUND THE BOTTLE IN MY MOM'S ROOM. yes, my mom has problems and that's only one of the many things she has tried to pull. |

lol, i did the same thing once when a guy was following me. got off the freeway exit that leads right to the police station and actually pulled into the parking lot where all the cop cars were. he took off right after that! |
