ASOT, TATW, GDJB... use of CDJs or Ableton??

Does anyone know wether or not these shows are produced live in the studio with a pair of CD units or if they are done using Ableton Live?

Global DJ Broadcast...
I'm pretty sure Armin does everything in Ableton now, but not sure about the others.

does not matter, anything it takes to sound as good as possible.
i think they use ableton nowadays though

It's not that I would think less of them if they used software... Every mix is so perfect though, that it makes me wonder if this is possible to do with CD units... I think that I've gotten to a point where I'm fairly good, but my beats do drift on at least half my mixes, if only ever so slightly. Knowing wether or not its possible to get any better would help put my skill level in better perspective.
I understand what you guys are saying when you say it shouldn't matter... because it doesn't... I'm just trying to better evaluate my own skills as a DJ. |

it's also much easier with sw.....with cd players if you screw up a transition near the and of the mix it's not that good. you'll have to rerecord the whole thing again?
ableton let's you do so much more and it's pretty much flawless you just need creativity. |

yea, well if these guys are all using ableton for their shows than that makes me feel pretty good about how im doing using CD units and vinyl.
I think I need to go find a live set from one of their gigs... problem is finding a live set that doesn't sound like garbage (sound quality). |

| I know for a fact ASOT is done with Ableton and has been since 2005. The others I dont know. |

| All the big shows have been done with software for a few years now. I miss the old days of Armin live mixing and chatting in the chat room between mixes AND talking on the show :sadgreen: |

| I'm almost positive I read that GDJB is not done with Ableton, but he may have switched by now. Really to me it makes no difference its just a radio show. |
