| Also another thing. Here in LA EDM events get bigger bigger every year. Last 2005's monster massive had 22,000 people, 2006's had 33,000 people, but going mainstream? I donno, it's safe to say it can be inevitable. Note tho, im not talking about just trance, i'm talking about EDM in general. |

Some EDM subgenres will never become mainstream, that's a fact. |

I'm surprised Pop-Breaks haven't really taken off out of NC, since they are pretty close to Hip-Hop (sometimes it sounds like Hip-Hop at 45)... Plus with all of the 80s Breaks remixes and such...
As for Trance, do we really want more wankers that think Ian Van Dahl is the best thing since sliced bread?!? |

drum and bass is definately mainstream here in regards to edm atleast,
Until society puts down its guitars I don't think it'll ever be as mainstream as rock etc.. |

| I don't think it will ever happen either, but I think that's for the best probably. I used to love rap when I was in school, I listened to 80's and early-mid 90's rap and it was popular, sure, but it's grown from being popular to POP music now and I don't like new rap anymore and haven't for about 10+ years. I think trance, just like any other genre, would suffer from being THAT mainstream because it would be overcommecialized and exploited for the bottom dollar. |

the chance of it ever going mainstream in the uk died many many years ago
cream died, gatecrasher and godskitchen are dying a slow death and the major electronic events are catering towards the housier crowd
trance had a chance and lost :( |

The charts over here were filled with stuff like that in the 90's. |

As something goes more and more "mainstream," motives like becoming famous and playing to huge crowds become more and more prevalent. This means that you have everybody trying to sound like the "big guys" (or different -- but not too different) in order to capture a fan base.
How boring. |
