| I had to take Spanish in high school for four years even though I already had been speaking the language since I was two. I hated it. |

seems like the same 3 languages that are primarily offered here in the states are also the ones that are taught abroad. french, spanish, and german. at least in high school/secondary school. |
we only had a choice between Spanish and French. if German was offered i probably would have chosen that over French. |

i'm planning on heading to germany and belgium in november for 'I <3 TECHNO'. i'm pretty nervous about not knowing german or french. |
it's western europe, i'm sure all the young people speak english when i went to finland i was freaked out since i know no finish or swedish but it was easier for me to get around there than in russia and at that time i supposedly knew russian (mostly though when i'm drunk) |

well i have a degree in russian studies from tufts and two years ago i bought a one way ticket to st petersburg hoping to go on some crazy adventure. i signed up for some classes at st petersburg state university geared toward foreigners and commenced my "adventure". i stayed for four months and ran back to the US because i couldn't stand to be there anymore |
