When I see a sentence fragment or an improper use of a word, I actually feel sick. I get knots in my stomach and can't help but cringe.

When someone makes a post on TA that is full of grammatical errors, I can't even read it (no matter how important the post may be).

"They're" and "their" are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORDS, FFS!

tranceaddict arn't for you ;)

Oy.

1. Being a geek does not constitute having OCD, by any definition of the word.

2. Most people on this forum aren't even computer literate enough to be computer geeks. We do have a few programmers and IT people, but there are many more who (for example) can't figure out how to install Windows or get MP3s to stop playing in QuickTime.

3. About 2% of the adult population has OCD. I seriously doubt that any forum could possibly be so selective, unless it was a forum on OCD.

4. OCD is a serious medical condition. What the hell is it with people trying to brag about their phoney-baloney illnesses? Everyone's "addicted" to this music or has "ADD" or "OCD" or "social anxiety" or "chronic depression" or God knows what the else. I think the only serious outbreak in here has been the outbreak of Blitherer's Disease, AKA Acute Don't Know but Have an Opinion Anyway Syndrome.

As Moral Hazard pointed out (and I'm really glad that someone else did), being a neat freak or a spelling nazi or having some other irrational pet peeve does not equate to a clinical medical condition. You got a diagnosis from a shrink? Fine, tell us all about it. Otherwise, STFU. kplzthx.

i think you have a cucumber-in-ass disorder

btw, why don't you go find yourself a forum board where you can talk to people who match your obviously superior intellect instead of constantly correcting us small minded folk.

HEY, I'm here!

Seriously, this post is out of line. Everyone should have their say regardless of whether or not it is palatable to all. Moreover, why would you want to silence people that are trying to raise the general level of understanding or clearing up ambiguity? The only motivation I can see is that being corrected is uncomfortable. If that's the motivation then that's just plain sad.

We all understand that we don't actually have OCD. I do not believe that the OP was actually being 100% serious when he created this poll. That may have been his original intention, however, as you can see, the point of the thread changed from actual OCD to our own perceived version of OCD.

So yes, we know we don't have OCD...thanks for pointing out the obvious..:eyespop:

Actually, my point of contention is with the poor use of diction and the, subsequent, further erosion of the English language.
