are you ocd?

a ridiculous theory surfaced that the majority of ta's are ocd because they're computer geeks. first, don't feel most are even computer geeks, feelin is that most are simply partiers w/ knowledge of a forum board, and couldn't tell you how that's any different from a motherboard. whatever, that aside i still don't think the concept sticks because the two biggest computer geeks i know are also the two messiest people i know (glances AWAY from sketchbag and lopi)

so i feel like it doesn't hold water. nevertheless. do YOU a TA suffer from being an OCD case?
your feelings pls
and throw down your ocd habits while you're at it so your friends can mess with your head just a little bit more

,,,,,,,,,,

to add to this as people pop in after good convo, as far as a 'degree' of OCD, does it BOTHER you? i mean will it ruin a moment, a day, or your mood in general if something isn't 'proper' to your deranged self. NOT just a quirk. will you spend HOURS trying to make everything ing level, and spend hours figuring out -- where does this best go? does it consume you?

Are you talking just about being a neat freak, or being OCD in general?

I can't leave Windows windows unmaximized. It really bothers me when people have many unmaximized windows open.

LMAO ^^^^^^^^^ that's what i would call a really funny quirk. doesn't make you ocd unless you have tons of those, but if you do. then yeah you're an ocd case. i'm not saying you have to turn the lock 5 times before you can leave the house OCD but this whole dispute came about because someone thought they were ocd simply cuz they folded toilet paper before wiping <------------ not OCD

me... i LOSE it if theres a mess for a long time. i'm not myself, "everything in it's right place" sums it up nicely. i piss my roommates off to no avail as i rearrange the appartment/house every month or two

I don't think I'm there yet, but I'm the biggest clean freak

my res companions had lots of fun, making fun of me :\

I wouldn't say that I'm a computer GEEK but in electrical engineering computers are your main tool. I have a lot of little quirks when it comes to taking notes and having a clean desktop (both computers and actual desktops). My room has to be tidy before i can get my day underway so i never let it get out of hand.

I have lots of quirks when it comes to sports. Like how i gear up for hockey and my golf clubs have to be in sequential order in my bag... yea.

i know i have something that i could probably be considered ocd with but i cant remember what it is.. lol its something really obvious too

I not sure if any of the TOTAs here are qualified to diagnose themselves as obsessive compulsive.

'being neat' or 'minimizing windows' or whatever else you think may be OCD probably isn't. People develop habits/quirks, that may seem strange or even obsessive, but push come to shove they are JUST HABITS. You 'could' break them if you had too, it would just bug you.

Washing your hands till they bleed is OCD,
Leaving a room and coming back in 20 times in a row is OCD, etc.

Aside from that, I have heard a similar theory. Everyone is 'OCD', just to varying degrees. We all develop our quirks that are probably useless/trivial, but seem to be of the utmost importants to us. Still I disagree and don't like using the term OCD because it trivializes the severity of the condition in people who REALLY suffer from it.

Anyways, I JUST realized this poll is not too serious and is meant as a means to let us share our peculiar habits.

SO. I bite the skin beside my nails.
Never eat Banana ends.
Crack my Jaw.
And check if I've lost anything in my pockets when I go out dozens of time.

smoking weed makes me neurotic....lol.

i used to bite my nails but just randomly stopped one day. as far as other bad habits, i sometimes pop my fingers (and toes, ankles, back and neck) when i'm nervous, and if i'm stressed i go on an ocd cleaning blitz.

You wanna see REAL OCD? Walk into the dementia ward of any hospital, or take a stroll through a long-term care facility. There's a resident I work with at one of my jobs who asks me every 30 seconds (I you not) for towels/paper towel/toilet paper/her laundry/when can she have a bath.

-the volume ALWAYS has to be on an even number
-no food stuck between my teeth while eating, i'll stop get it out, then continue again.
i have a couple more, hard to think of them right now until they actually happen.
