Egyptian Girl Dies in Circumcision
By Associated Press

Sat Aug 11, 7:50 PM

CAIRO, Egypt - A 13-year-old Egyptian girl has died during a circumcision operation, two months after the death of another girl prompted health officials to ban the widespread traditional procedure, local media said Saturday.

It is the same problem

what are you smoking? how can you call that a "small" difference?

the physiology is completely different. dont compare the foreskin to the clitoris. they are world's apart. im not supporting male circumcision, but to compare it with female genital mutilation is quite disingenuous.

I'm pretty sure he's saying the opposite. It is the same problem, but people find differences simply because circumcision is less stigmatised in North America than this kind of mutilation. The sole purpose (or the original INTENDED purpose) of circumcision in both males and females is to suppress sexual pleasure. It stems from religious traditions that go back for thousands of years.

Of course, the tradition being continued isn't necessarily because of religious zealots, or for the reasoning it was started (now people claim that it is hygienic).

Either way, I personally think both are a barbaric practice, and should be abolished entirely.

that's where you are wrong. there are other reasons for male circumcision. there arent any for female circumcision though.

Please reread my post.

The SOLE INTENDED ORIGINAL purpose for circumcision was to discourage sexual pleasure.

I am sure you know, as you're an intelligent guy, that most religions view sexuality as something that is to be done for the sake of procreating, not to be enjoyed. It is considered highly sinful to be a sexual being, and to even so much as touch yourself.

Circumcision was meant to preserve the purity of the people. The whole thing about it being "hygienic" came afterward, and is a whole load of crap IMO.

^^^ Agreed.

Both are unnecessary: the difference is that female circumcision is done on behalf of morality, whereas male circumcision is supposed to be good for your hygiene now (although I've never had problems with my extra skin). Also, you can still have sex if you've got no foreskin or clitoris, although it won't be quite as pleasurable as it would (and probably it's less harsh on males).

I'm sorry, but in my experience as a nurse, I've seen more problems with uncircumcised penises, than those that are. In fact I've never seen any of the same problems happen to men with circumcised penises that happen to those that aren't. So yeah, it DOES have health benefits. Keep deluding yourself into thinking it doesn't though, lol.

Personally, I never said it doesn't have benefits (NeoPhono has already posted lots of reasons on PDD), I just don't think it's worth it.

LOL! Ok, tell that to the patient I'm looking after who's had an infection off and on for almost a month, in and out of the hospital, pus coming out of the urethra, foreskin swollen to 3 times it's normal size so that it can neither be pulled back or rolled forward...that it's not worth it.

and thats not common
