This bull happens all the time. The only reason we're hearing about it is because it's Vick (who isnt even that good of a football player to begin with).
Its lame, and Im sick of hearing about it. Its almost as bad as Paris. |
Are you kidding me? You have got to be off your rocker if you really think this situation can be compared to Paris Hilton's antics (and if you really do think there is an analogy to be made, I'd love to hear the details of it).
The bottom line is that regardless of whether or not this happens all the time, it shouldn't. I could give all of it's Vick or some down the street from me, but quite frankly, I think it's great that someone like Vick is going down hard for this, because if one person is appalled enough by the situation to do a bit more to stop it from happening again, something good came out of it.
Really though, I think it's great that so many of you are apathetic and indifferent with regard to torturing animals. :gsmile: |

You betcha. :p
This is just one of those issues for me where it seems like everyone else is all too happy to take the "See no/Hear no/Speak no evil" approach, and that is a mindset that I am fundamentally incapable of understanding. |

Nobody who's paid any attention to this (i.e. heard the details or seen the images) is indifferent about it. What he did (or, at the very least, was privy to & financed) is appalling. There's no way around that. |

well you said we should torture Vick like an animal, so where does that put you?
he is a dickbag, and animals shouldnt be mistreated, but they are everyday. even people whom claim to love their animals mistreat them, just like children get mistreated by supposedly well meaning parents.
animal sport, just like human sport has gone on forever. to claim one, stupid human should be persecuted for all the wrongdoings of a whole race is stupid. he gets what he deserves, but this type of is happening all over the world and nobody does on a larger sense| |

Agree, I think that is a very counterproductive way to look at things and I dont understand how you anybody can say(allow me to paraphrase here but..) I see no real harm in dog fighting because it happens all the time and in other places of the world, yet you wish the purportrator of a crime you do not really think is a crime, to be punished? |

Biz - I think you and I are pretty much in agreement there, and to be honest, I would hope my assertion that Vick should be tortured wass clearly a knee-jerk reaction, and not a genuine suggestion for punishment.
My only point is exactly what Spike has said, the idea that it "happens all the time" is moot simply because the position I'm arguing is that we should do everything we can to stop this kind of activity from "happening all the time," regardless of the individual(s) involved.
The only difference here is that there is a celebrity involved, meaning this obviously garners and insane amount of coverage in the American media. While it is indeed and annoyance, if it raises awareness of such barbarism and, as I said, even one person does something in an effort to end such acts - then something decent and good has come out of this. |

The NAACP's own racism and absurd statements on just about every major legal issue concerning an African American never cease being funny.
