Universal Religion 3: 2007 LIVE from Armada @ Ibiza (pg. 5)

I really do wish we could get some more trance compilations out there (and getting noticed) that aren't so predictable.

I don't want to hear Ibiza's top anthems for the summer, and I don't want to hear Armada's greatest hits every other month.

I just want to enjoy listening to trance again without having to go back and listen to sets and tracks that are a 5-20 years old.

No, I've just commented on recent ASOT and Armin compilations because they have, in fact, all been utter as well as complete disappointments for me.

You just happen to take more offense than most people.

I think you're only reading the threads your tracks are involved in.

Then what is the point of any artist in any musical genre doing the same thing? It holds more "value" to an individual who buys it then to someone who just downloads the thing I think. It comes with a nice fancy cover, a booklet, etc. I'm not disagreeing with you entirely but it just seems like you are totally dismissing the release altogether just because he is making money from it. I mean the guy chose to make a living off of music and now he is baing bashed for it?

oh come on. don't try to defend Armin with that kind of argument.
just proves how low Armins fans have gone. "Well because Gatecrasher and MoS release their commercial "BEZT TRANZ MIX OF IBIZA 2007 #43" why can't Armin????"

I wish Armin could go back to the time when he only did his own compilation starting with 001-004 Transparance. They were great and you can clearly hear that he put down loads of efforts in the mixing and not just throwing in the most played tunes atm.

Sure, by buying the CD you can have "some" value in your hands. But when I was talking about "added value", I was talking more about an innovative compilation, with new tracks, a new concept ... not something like this. If someone wanted to hear this CD he didn't even have to download it illegally. He could easily download a couple of ASOT's from past summer, cause Armin broadcasted the same kind of Ibiza sets in there, probably with the same tracks. I listened to one or two of these Ibiza sets and can't imagine buying this CD.

There will always be people who buy these compilations, but the way he is releasing now, even that can't last forever. He's killing the market like this and at some point he won't earn money on it, but lose on it. Wouldn't it be better to release once in a while a really GOOD compilation in stead of this???

So, finally, I'm NOT bothered with the fact Armin is trying to make money. I'm bothered with the fact he just doesn't want to do any effort anymore, it just lacks effort and originality. Every DJ could do what Armin is doing: releasing a set from past weekend. This would mean we would see hundreds of new compilations every week of sets from all over the globe. What would be the purpose of that?

Well then according to your argument, the second one would have to be "just as bad" as this one. Which it wasn't and I would imagine most of the people who have listened to it would agree. Neither of the 2 were nearly "groundbreaking" cds but they were still enjoyable and worth the $15 if you ask me. Yeah, it would be nice to just download all this stuff for free but that's not the case so you're just gonna have to deal with a cd that isn't so good as the previous, from time to time.

And Rebel, I agree with your Transparance comment. Unbelievable mixing and track selection.

Yeah I agree with you. Most of the track from the 2004 CD he played a lot on ASOT episodes back then but the CD is still good with great mixing, track selection and overall flow.
