Yeah, Lawler canceled for something that was not announced until recently and not even on the week he was even playing :P

I know I should just stay out of this mess, but let me just add my two $.02 -- How many ghetto people do you see at EDM nights? I guarantee that number will increase 10-20 fold if you mix in hip hop at the same venue. I know there are straight/normal people that do the hip hop thing...but come on. There will be so many more ghetto people as opposed to a EDM-only night.

The biggest problem I keep seeing here is that everyone keeps calling it hip hop. It's not just hip hop. Also, you referred it as a ghetto crowd. Unlike EDM events, I guarantee you that they will have a trendy dress code. That usually eliminates most trouble makers.
You guys should just open your mind a little bit more and give it a chance. What are you guys scared off? It almost seems like you're scared of that crowd. |

| I don't get the "ghetto crowd" thing either, popular hip hop today isn't gangster and ghetto. It's fabulous with loud flashy colors and lots of jewelery. They won't want to get in a fight because that means they'll scuff up their shoes :p |

im amazed how close minded alot of u are. bitching about its all about the music and and how ed up people are going to come now. what kind of world do you live in? if you want the damn music, then stay home and buy yourself nice headphones. clubbing is not only about the music, even if you think so unconsciously its many other things.
with the right marketing this can turn out to make things better off in the future. like i said, i know too many classy/normal people who never knew of the scen before i introduced them to it. now they thank me for it and will rarely listen to hip hop and regularly attend edm events in town. |

| I'm as opened-minded as anyone here. I just yet to have seen hip hop and EDM done right at the same venue. Good luck I guess, heh. |

I think the real problem lies at heart.
As much as EDM may be taking over. In the US its still relatively unknown or missunderstood. For that reason, those of us that love the music, also love the feeling of going to a place where its the ONLY music playing. Its a sense of idividuality, and comradery. Lets face it, we all have friends that still dont know why the hell we like EDM. So when we go, there is a sense of uniqueness and joy of being around a bunch of cool people that enjoy the genre as much as you.
In essence, having hip-hop, regardless of whether its a ghetto crowd or not, gives a sense of violation. I believe the majority of us just don't want to mix with people that are there for another reason: hip hop. The Vanguard is perhaps the most coveted spot in LA for EDM. And now, those of us who love the club feel pissed that we have to share it. Especially when there is already seperate nights for other genres. |

People keep saying that, but never have been to a venue with both it seems. Like I said before, Belo and Club Vegas both do it right. No problems at either. |

+1 on Vegas and Belo's Giant nights. My SD friends love going to Belo Friday nights since their group is split between EDM and Hip Hop.
I was super exited when I heard of this. I could actually go to a club with my best friends on a Saturday night and enjoy separate rooms.
I regularly frequent Omer's Friday night @ Element. My friends know exactly where to find me. In the back room w/ DJ Trevor James or DJ Gina Star grooving to the house music. |
