Who waited in line for Halo 3? a VIDEO game

So my step brother who's in high school, he finished some projects he had due and stuff, and he was allowed to go wait in line for Halo 3 by his mom, which I'm told came out at midnight.

I don't play video games at all, so I don't get how people get so hyped up for it, or wait in LINE for it lol. Anyone do this last night?

The number of people calling in sick for work or skipping school today is probably at a record high lol. I myself enjoy playing Halo but never got very hyped up about them. I've pre-ordered games and been excited as all hell the day they were released but can't see myself shirking responsibilities over it.

Saddened my xbox classic can't run it. :(

It's modded, so I have tons of games, but won't make the stup up to the new one until the mods are as easy as previously.
Porky
i waited in line for WoW: The Burning Crusade.

Nope...
I've had the game since Last Saturday...
But haven't played it yet though, lol.

It's no different than people waiting in line to see their favourite movie, or getting the latest book!

Halo 3 is the last game in the Halo trilogy so I'm guessing that the gamers wanted to see how everything ended before everyone on the internet ruined for everyone.

I guess its hard to make an EDM compairison, but i'm sure there would be several situations where you'd wait in line all night...

It's no worse than waiting in line for the iPhone/PS3/Wii/next Harry Potter book. I'd rather wait a week or two at home, and then just buy it without any hassles. But hey, everyone's got an addiction to something I guess.

Off topic, but is the PS3 considered a complete failure yet, or is Sony still claiming it'll come out on top? It's been a while since it was released, and I still don't see/hear of any really good games for it. Besides Blu-Ray movies, what are the chumps who bought the PS3 playing on it?

I've had a PS3 since January. Pretty much got it cheap as I ended up buying 3 units on Launch day (and no, i didn't wait in line, i bought all of them online via Best Buy and Future. They had 10 for sale everyone hour and I knew a few *bugs* on how to get your order in quickly).

So far I have one game which i bought used for $20, and have about 20 Blu-Ray movies so far. I got the PS3 for Blu-Ray right now, but will use it mainly for video games in the future.

I haven't even played Halo 1 so I don't think I will be running out to get this....NHL08 has my attention right now.

Maybe that's the point? You don't play them, so you don't get it.

Video games are like any other type of fantasy, whether its a sporting event, piece of literature, concert, album...etc.People just want the maximum time to get into the fantasy and fully experience it.

Fact is, life can be boring, and this is an easy/cheap form of escapism. Humans are a point in history where they can create immursive 3-D worlds with rich characters, story lines, great music, and ACTION, which just connot be experienced through any other conventional means.

As we get closer and closer to developing fully real, interactive worlds, you will see investment, interest and excitement grow with every new technological advancement.

Good point...I find it ironic that the majority of people I've met who peg video games as "a waste of time" are the same people who can watch crap on TV for hours on end.

You'd get the same amount of "fantasy time" if you bought the game a week later. Being the first to own it doesn't in any way increase the amount of time you will be playing it though. I think it's all for bragging rights among nerds.

I got NHL 2008 last week and love it.

The graphics seem to be a bit better, but the game is SOO much smoother. I think its runs at 60fps like the other EA 2008 games which is definitely noticeable.

Other than that, there isn't much difference from 07, except that in Dynasty, you can actually play all NHL & AHL games and customize all AHL lines as well. Pretty neat stuff for hardcore NHL fans.

The new deke function is alright, but nothing spectacular. I still haven't mastered the controls and pretty much end up loosing the puck all the time.

The only negative difference from last year is the fights SUCK! It's pretty much like an arcade fight where there are about 500 punches thrown in like 5 seconds. Definitely not as good as last years.
