You very savvy compy ppl, seeing as you kinda have an idea of what Ill be using my computer for,
am i like to notice much a difference with an Intel Core2 Duo Processor E4500 (2MB L2 Cache,2.20GHz,800 FSB)
instead of an Intel Core2 Duo Processor E6600 (4MB L2 Cache,2.4GHz,1066 FSB) ???
(I'd have a 2GB of RAM in the machine) |
you won't be able to notice the speed change while browsing or anything liek that.the E4xxx series is perfect for those who do light computer work with the odd gaming thrown in. in the future, when u'll need more speed, the E4500 can easily be overclocked to the levels of a E6600.
as for the video card, those are really really low end cards jem. they wont last u very long at all. spend a bit more and get somethign decent. you'll regret not having it later on. somethign even like a ati x1950 pro for #150 will be perfect for you and will play all the games in high quality.
here is a chart that compares certain cards that are out right now.
its a really good tool. http://www23.tomshardware.com/graph...2=854&chart=275 |

i just feel that if you're already going to spend money on a new card u might as well get a better one which will last u longer.
ill check out some systems that are being recommened to people on another forum, redflagdeals.com. they have a bunch of knowledgable people who price system for people who need their help. cuz ur system sounds like a lot of people's so i'll take a look around. |

not too sure what the exact requirements are but between the x1300 and the 8300, I'd go with the 8300 because of the DX10 compatibility. |
Totally irrellevant. BOth of those cards have such abismal, and a complete slideshow in DX10, that it is not even seriously considered as a factor. Jem, if middle-performance gaming is what you have in mind, go with either an nVidia 8600GTS, or with an old generation ATI 1950PRO.
EDIT: +1 to everything smuncky said. |

I've always liked Nvidia, and I don't think ATI has anything on them in terms of design, GPU technology, and bang for your buck.
The 8800GT beats out ATIs new 3870 card in every benchmark test that I've seen so far. On paper it looks like ATIs new card beats out Nvidias, but according to the benchmark tests, it doesn't at all. I'd much rather get the Geforce 8800GT that's for sure. |
umm...where exactly are these benchmarks you speak of...considering the 3870 is not out yet. You may be referring to the 3850. Either way, I"m on the same page, its worth it to spend a nominal amount more for the 8800gt. The performance of that card is literally the BEST bang for the buck you can currently get on the market. If you're in no hurry, I'd wait a month or so, and just get one from Newegg or some other online retailer. The MSRP for the card is $250, so don't pay more than that. |

Places get them to be able to test them, gets more hype for the card. Happens with many products.
The benchmarks I speak of are right here:

I'm talking about the 3870, I'm NOT referring to the 3850. |
