| This is the first time I am writing a review for a night at the Guv. Eric Prydz. Well what can I say. One word: disappointed. Anyone who listened to his essential mix earlier this year would be very familiar with his record selection and mixing from that set in March and what we heard tonight. I know a lot of people were looking forward to the show tonight, but I really felt that there was no energy from Prydz what so ever. Even at the end of his set when they did the shout out, he did not acknoledge the crowd when they were screaming for him. Then literally he took a few photos with some resident Dj's on the stage and was out the door literally 5 minutes after the last track he played ended. There were about 20 people screaming for his attention after his set and he didn't even so much as flinch or wave or anything. God complexe if I have seen it. It just seemed like he had no interest in being there and was more of an obligation than a privilage to spin on the haloed tables at the Guvernment. If he does come back to Toronto, I will not be dropping the 20 bones to see him again. Now I'm sorry for writing such a scathing review, I know a lot of you out there like him, but IMO it was a disappointment. Please don't be to harsh in your replies to this. Night rating: 5/10 |

Brother let me tell you for once I am in complete agreeance with you. It is not often that sort of thing happens. Usually people come up here and obsess over things like "mixing" and "track selection", placing high importance on "originality" and "newness"
My question is, how can these people be so blind?
From now on I am going to start ranking my dj's based on one quality and one quality alone.

1. an act of acknowledging.
2. recognition of the existence or truth of something: the acknowledgment of a sovereign power.
3. an expression of appreciation.
Guvernment you better get your act together, if you don't start bringing in headliners that will give me as many "thumbs up", "eye contacts", "fist pumps" and "looks of approval" that i deem fit for acceptable standards, you are going to lose the patronage of this clubber. And that's a fact! |

Agreed. No love from Prydz.
First time at the Guv and it was a great time but didnt come necessarily to see Prydz but really just to check out the whole club before tomorrow night's debauchery.
I'll start positive, the club itself is beautiful, great set up with many bars very accessible.
But now have to get negative, what is up with the drinks in Canada? Honestly the worst thing I have ever experienced. I dont know if we are spoiled in California with well poured, strong drinks, but the drinks tonight and last night the Mod Club were a ing joke :( I ordered a Goose and Red Bull and saw the centimeter of Goose the bartender put in the drink and then he asked for $15? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: I'm always very courteous to bartenders and tip heavily in the States, but these drinks were retarded :whip: Thats all the ranting I'll do but just had to point that out.
But lets talk about the most important thing, the Music. Absolutely loved the different rooms at the Guv, especially the Gallery. ING pWnage!!!:eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: I stayed in there for most of the night, and whoever was spinnin in there ing killed! Sick filthy nasty house beats!
Gallery > Prydz
Prydz was ok. Couldnt believe the trainwreck about 20 min into his set when the music STOPPED, and he had to start the song over again from the beginning. First thing that popped into my head was Cokenfold and his infamous wrecks. :nervous: There should never have been that reference with Prydz, he was nothing impressive.
The Guv is a cool club though with great sound, visuals, people, room to dance, layout, attitude and vibe. Met a lot of TAs later in the night which was great. But the first 6 people I asked if they were TAs, they had NO IDEA what I was talking about. :stongue: I explained I was from CA just visiting and they were all cool about it, very friendly. Great vibe the last 2 nights out and about in Toronto, everybody has a smile on their face and know and love the music. Nice to meet all of you and looking forward to the craziness that will take place tonight! :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:

I had a great night tonight
the tracks were great and the sound system sounded awesome
I agree he did not really interact but that was not what I came for
I came for a bunch of tracks that he ended up spinning
so 8/10 for me |
