I had a FABULOUS night for all the possible right reason.
Don't wanna beat a dead horse, this thread lists many of them already.
But I still have my 2 cents.
*It's nice to finally see Deadmou5 play an entire set. I'm sure I'll have many more opportunities, but it was nice to watch him his first time at GUV, (i think it was his first).
*MSTRKRFT were not on the bill, but Jesse Keeler and the HYPE MAN (whom I can never find out what his name is)were there helping Steve aoki rock out. MAYBE Al-P was there but I didn't see him at all.
OWENs review of Aoki's play was dead on. The tunes were AWESOME (way better than TiL) Mixing was horrible. I blame alcohol (It ws strange to watch becuase their facial expressions said 'YES THIS IS PERFECT' but my ears said 'are your earphones working') I usually can not notice minor glitches that my friends do, but this was just awful. Though the energy they exude (sp?) is unmatched. The Drink was a crazy sweaty mess for the hour I was there. I left after I heard "changes". How he went from tracks like "Neon Knights" to that I don't know.
SCUMFROG weas excellent, though he showed up late and very drunk as well. He plays the best remixes. Was hoping he'd play his "sunshine of your love" mix that killed me when he was in the drink earlier in the year. Instead he caught me off guard with his (I assume) version of our own canadian boy Brian Adams' "Run to You". The last half of his set was good, but not on par with the first hour.
Checked out Carl a few hours into his set (after it wasn' AS packed) and and danced what was left of my stength out by 5-6) I was actually toast by 3 but Cox squeezed out any moves I still had left.
After the review I wish I stayed till the end... next time I have tickets for a big event like this I'll avoid going out too much the nights before.
*Kotsy* the AA promo you mentioned is it proton CD??? don't remember when I got it but if thats the one your talking about its awesome. Especially while driving home from a party or relaxing on the hammock. Not too fast or hard, but not so mellow that it bores me.
GOD BLESS whoever pressed down that fog button until I could barely see my hands.
Its always fun meeting TOTA's.
:happy2:
And I hope everyone who celebrates it had a Happy Thanksgiving. |

-Steve Aoki killed it.....yea he was trashed and he knocked out the Mac book and everything got real sloppy real fast..... Sik tunes in general.... and it was sik seeing Deadmau5 and JFk 1half of MSTKRFT in the booth with Aoki.... even thou as i recall Steve spent most of the time wilding out bouncing around everywhere including on top of the crowd.......

The tracks he dropped were massive circus minimal tunes. The bouncy, upside down, inflating ear, tippy-toe spinaroo kind! lol. I was relieved that he focused more on the minimal side, and not tech house! Could barely ID any tracks, which was a bit refreshing for once. Relentlessness for 2 hours!
The Loco Cox (aka Crazy Dicks lol) tore it up like it was DC10!! Seriously when will I/We ever get to experience a back 2 back set from these two ******s?! WOW! Like I mentioned in an earlier post, it was more of a Loco Dice inspired set, which was perfect! The tunes just got crazier, and Loco Dice was actually moving! They were feeding off of each other..although Cox probably didn't need anymore feeding (pun intended, haha.) The main room was going mental... techno parties always have the best vibe and energy :) |
Sounds like something I would have really liked. It's awesome to hear that sounds like this are now gracing the speakers of The Guv mainroom.
Also, lol @ "Loco Cox". Awesome. |

not a trancehead but Ferry's set was decent, some good hard techno in there too. He got me moving to much of his set. Deadmau5 also solid (as I expected) and Carl surprised me with some delicious prog tech. Main room too too crowded but I expected that with the Guv.
Montreal is where it's at if you want a sexier crowd (ie much much better ratio of sexy ladies, smirk) and usually more room to move, but the beats coming out of every Guv room were great. As mentioned in here, maybe it's too much of a good thing to have a smorgasboard of djs, as many of my favs (M&S, VJ, Tommy Sunshine, AA, Loco) were missed due to scheduling clashes. All in all, a great deal for $35 :)
PS, those of you who haven't yet done so should try Bal en Blanc, Black and Blue or Resolution and get your Montreal EDM cherry popped :eyespop: :p |

For additional poultry pleasure, check out Deadmau5 and Jelo's The Reward is Cheese... those two should mix perfectly. |
Was this the song you were asking about last time I saw you at the Guv? |
