But that does not solve the root of the problem in the first place. The main reason the City is experimenting with cameras in places like the entertainment district is simple: political pressure from the rich people of Toronto.
And how does getting more people into jail ultimately solve the problem? It doesn't. Putting more people in jail is symbolically equivalent to just sweeping dirt under the carpet.
It's not hard to see the root of the problems here, but ultimately the problems won't stop because those who influence the government and the law don't want that and they just don't care. |

there are some problems that will never go away and all you can try to do is control it and this is what i think they are trying to do. |

| Do it. The clubbing district is a ing disaster, which makes it harder for other clubs to operate, limiting clubbers options. Politicians paint pretty much all clubs that are attended by 19-30 year olds with he same brush, so the drunken idiots coming home from "Club Dudebudbro" ruin it for the rest of us. This is a step in the right direction. |

exactly, why not put cameras around bathurst and steeles or jane and finch, maybe that would solve a lot of crimes. |
they already have a bunch of camera's around the jane and finch area. |

| Forgot to add, it's also funny how CBC tries to sensationalize the story by citing random statistics as if they apply to the Richmond District. |

exactly...one has to look at the bigger picture of why these ppl keep commiting these crimes...the underlying root causes such as economic issues; poverty, which means cuts to community resources to kids, unemployment, and social issues such as intolerance among and towards certain racial/cultural groups |

| Put them up. The more craziness the cameras can help prevent the better. |
