With as much (unwarranted, imo) hype the Celtics have been given, if they don't reach the Finals this year they are a let-down. That said, I don't think they're going to do it. They went 1-3 against the Wizards this season and never faced Gilbert... that's a potential blockbuster second round matchup right there! |

| phil jackson...greatest coach? the beginning of the season the lakers were trying to shop kobe around so they could rebuild. they were pretty much throwing in the towel before the season started. he's been coaching for 17 years and has never had a losing season. he has 9 championships (possibly 10 after this year). he's getting a new ring every other year. that's pretty unreal to me. |

lol at comparing the Celtics to the Wizards.
Beyond the dry statistics i think we can all agree that Washington's "trio" is alot more one-dimensional then the Celtics versatile trio.
Agent0 is selfish, Butler insn't a very good shooter and Jameson is a joke compared to KG...you can imagine how boring a Wizards offensive scenerio is going to be every time but with Boston the players complement each other much better.
The Bucks used to have Sam,Allen and Robinson on the same team and they sucked, sometimes it takes more then just 3 all-stars. |

Agreed, which is the exact reason I think the Wiz can beat the Celtics. That and the fact that they HAVE beaten the Celtics three times this year and only lost one game when they didn't have Butler or Arenas. The Wizards even beat the Celtics twice in one weekend in January (once at home and once in Boston)!

Add to that the fact that Nick Young has looked flat-out awesome this last month, Darius Songaila has stepped in for the injured Butler and not missed a step, and Roger Mason, Jr. even threw in 30 points against the Pacers the other night, and I'll take the Wizards. While their stars have been busy getting healthy, the young guys on the Wiz (Stevenson, Young, Pecherov, Blatche) have improved considerably. Sorry guys, I watch basketball games and not just highlights. |

Naw, I'm not even a Wizards fan - I'm a Timberwolves fan (as painful as that often is). Believe me, I know how good KG is - I used to get to see him all the time in Minneapolis. But I'm able to recognize how much better the Wizards have gotten this season. In a lot of ways, Gilbert and Butler being injured for part of the season is the best thing that could have happened to them. They have so much depth it is ridiculous now. |

Mann Leb slow your roll. Yeah the wizards can beat the Celtics 100 times in the season but what says they will pulverize them in the playoffs.
Remember, Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul piece have not seen the light for quite sometime so this is their year to shine so that pretty much kiss the whole east good bye if they play like it will be their last. Plus Sam Cassell is already tasted victory so that is some added exp to them as well.
Wizards like you said next season 55 & finals. I still don't believe but lets be realistic at the moment until next season.
I say if the celtics play the wiz at all (3-1 celts) |

I never said the Wizards will pulverize the Celtics - only that it will be a really closely-matched series. I could see it going six or seven games easily. The Wizards should roll over Cleveland, and the Celtics will likely sweep the Hawks, so it will only be a two week wait to see it. And Cassell is old (and nursing back spasms this week) so I don't know that he will help the argument that much. After all, Flip Saunders, who coached Cassell in Minnesota, "joked that the team needed to play a zone when Cassell was in the game because he didn't do the pick-and-roll especially well, if at all."
Allen and Cassell are both past their prime... we'll see if they can game up for another grueling playoffs... but I have my doubts. Experience goes out the window as soon as you hit the court.
I think this has the potential of being this year's Golden State-Dallas repeat. |

Facts: *reference(wikipedia)
Cassell took t-wolves team to the west conference finals (2004)
Wizard playoffs
05,Wizards were swept by the Miami Heat
06,Butler would miss a 3-pointer on the other end to seal the game, and the series, for the Cavaliers.
07, They were swept 4 games to none in a rematch of last year's first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
08, ???
My opinion:
why this year lebron will just let them walk by him and his team?
Cleavland is not that bad overall. Wiz might be better instead of 7th place but still don't have that playoff winner type team yet.
Casell is still a good player. Might not be houston rockets or Twolves good but still nothing wrong having him at backup if so with his exp he has already |

Completely different ensemble cast now. Different team. I don't believe in looking at past performance to judge how a team is going to do. Why not look at Doc Rivers' past playoff performance? Or KG's? Or Ray Allen's?

Dude, have you seen the Cavs play lately? They had to surge late in the fourth quarter just to beat the HEAT the other night! With the (possible) exception of Z, not a single Cavs player other than LeBron would start for another playoff-bound team. They are god-awful. In fact, it's embarrassing they even made the playoffs! If it weren't for LeBron, that team would make the Knicks look like a group of All-Stars. And the Cavs were pwned by Washington this year in all four games. LeBron could score 60 points in game one and his team still wouldn't reach 90.
DeShawn Stevenson is hungry to get LeBron in the playoffs. Asked which team he'd like to face, he actually stated that he hopes they get to play the Cavs because the Wizards will make them look bad.

Nothing wrong I guess... but don't expect him to add too much. He's lost a step and he's barely able to shoot anymore. |
