Soo... I always hear that the music scene is exceptional in Montreal, but the masterlist seems really sad haha... (maybe just not updated?).
I am moving down there in 7 months - any suggestions on clubs to hit up, clubs to avoid, etc.
oh, and if you feel super awesomely nice, how about good places to live, and not to live? (i.e. not really keen on ghettos).
So far I hear St. Michel V. is no good ... and the usual westmount and le plateau mont royal is the place to be hahaha...
Anyway.. I guess maybe I will be seeing some of you around in 7 months ;)
edit: and... are french-canadien men as bad as they say? haha.. |

I am actually looking at buying so not rent. :) My condo/apt budget so far has been around 150K. We shall see if it stays the same next summer.
Sweet, thanks for the heads up on the clubs! Is Piknic Electronik an outdoors rave? It sounds fun haha |

$150k. Check out here they might have something. Look at Lowney. Pretty nice project. They should have something in your price range. You are just minutes away from downtown Montreal, Bell Center and Old Montreal. |

$150k. There is some new places going up in Griffintown for around that price. | yeah I think I may have checked some of them out on MLS. That's actually fairly close to where I will be working (well... my knowledge of Montreal is strictly aerial view - YAY GOOGLE MAPS!).
That's close to westmount right? As long as it isn't scary, I am happy with that!
Thanks again ;)

edit: wow sweet, thanks for the site. That rocks too. |

Griffintown, is sort of close to Westmount if you drive or take a cab. Walking distance should take you 30-40 mins (give or take) plus you could take the metro Bonaventure to Vendome (you will be NDG / Westmount) just take the 24 or walk east an you will be in Westmount in no time.
MLS is a great website.
Also look at Plateau Mont Royal, pretty good area imo. |

When I saw Lowney in the Gazette a month back it was at $132k lol not sure what phase it was though.
There is the Imperial (loft) starting at $139k, goes alway to $255k. Phase 3 is Autumn '08. |

u could also find a nice condo in the plateau for that price | Lowney from the website seems nice, but there are a few things that just don't click right with me. Seems like their starting price point is about 139,900 but I am assuming most of that is sold (especially for phase 2 - maybe not phase three yet)
Some of the other places are for 65+ year olds haha...
I would LOVE to own a new place, but if that's impossible to find I will be looking for condos that are a couple of years old. One of my #1 musts is in-suite laundry, and no carpets haha.
You guys are awesome, thanks for all the heads up. MLS doesn't have everything and its hard to find these places without the local paper (the gazette?) at my hand.

150k for a downtown condo is stretching it, it won't be easy, unless you're lookin for a small one bedroom condo (don't forget condo fees).
There's no ghettos per se in town, st-michel is poor, but you will not feel threathned at all.
french canadian men eat poutine with babies in them.:p |

lol i just noticed that lowney is about 99% sold. 2 units left in phase 2, and 95% sold in phase 3.
crazy!
Do any of you guys know much about the re-sale value on real estate in Montreal? |

LOL... nice, good to know about babies in poutine. that's my fav.
I am not particular about living downtown - i can be in the outskirts, if anything I'd prefer it... So hopefully my budget will be easily met there.
do you post in c0r? I think i recognize your user name from way back in the day when i spent a lot of time in that damned place. |
