thnx but i finished highschool at 16 and graduated and im going to college next year...did you finish at 16? nah i didnt think so....

did i say this land belongs to white ppl? no i didnt....so why are u talking to come up with some argument that has nothing to do with what i said?

are all girls idiots like you? i seriously hope not, sadly ive only met ignorant girls like you.

HEY guess what??????

im australian, i was born their and moved here when i was very young, so did my parents, we are all immigrants.

my point being we all work, pay taxes, are educated, dont commit crimes, dont go on welfare b/c its the easy thing to do like alot of immigrants do...and u dont need to point out that white ppl can be just as bad as immigrans, im aware of that. hoever thr topic is immigration.

bottem line is we need to tighten up our laws and only allow ppl who can benefit this country, not any yahoo who wants in.

ur = your - not a spelling mistake
however:
ur = you're - wrong
their = there - a spelling mistake
alot = a lot - another spelling mistake
immigrans = immigrants - another one
hoever = however - yep
thr = the - yep
bottem = bottom - yep

also, a lot of us had the good fortune to have all the basics needed in life, PLUS a free or next to free educations. , we are spoilt. whats wrong with giving some people a break, who really didn't have one. it was luck of the draw that we ended up here, and they ended up there (aaron..stop grinding your teeth).

and fyi, residents contribute to crime at higher rates than immigrants

AGQ, if this many people think you are a racist nut, then maybe you should look at yourself instead of at others. or you could just leave (but not to australia, cuz we don't want you there either)

I concur...

He is simply to miserable and ignorant to realize that his fortune or future is not decided or hindered because others are helped out of dispare.

dood... stop contradicting yourself, it makes you sound really uneducated, self-conscious and silly. While it is only the internet, your dim-witted answers to every post speak louder than you can imagine.

Just stop. Please. Before you hurt your brain even more.

Hah god damnit, you beat me to it :haha:. First thing I thought of. And god damn, I have a hard time believing this isn't an alt/troll, there's no way someone could be that thick.

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even bother responding to a post like this. There are, however, I few things that I wish to address:

First of all, I didn't call you an idiot. I definitely said that you sounded like one in that post - and followed that up with the idea that I hoped what you had written was a temporary lapse in judgement.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, but since you are so interested - I didn't graduate high school at 16, but shortly after my 17th birthday.

But wow, now that you mention how beneficial finishing high school at 16 sounds... I wish I could take back my 4 years of university education and somehow try to complete my secondary level studies at 16! Maybe then I could aspire to the kind of linguistic knowledge that you possess, which gives you the ability to create sentences like: "I was born their." and "hoever thr topic is immigration."

I'm not too sure what menstrual cycles have to do with anything - but since you are such a fan of staying on topic, they MUST have something to do with immigration.
Perhaps you could further pursue this seemingly revolutionary connection in your post-secondary studies next year.

In the meantime, I would suggest consulting www.dictionary.com to help you define words such as "colonization", "ignorant", and "idiot".
Unfortunately, that won't help you with your apparent inability to properly use the comma, the apostrophe, nor will it help you to distinguish between there/their/they're (I know that's a tricky bunch - they all SOUND the same!)

I would offer you my help and suggest that you take part in some ESL classes that I tutor - but that might not work out very well because you'd have to sit next to other immigrants - and some of them are all scary and not white and might make you feel uncomfortable.

PEACE :toocool:

Based on your definition, GQ is definitely a racist. By referring to Canada as "his" he is projecting a sense of superiority.
[snip]
Also, I don't see the relevance of your comment re: "slight discomfort" when this kid wants to leave the country. That's not "slight discomfort" by any definition that I've heard of :rolleyes:

No, sorry, you aren't getting away with that one. Asserting ownership of land is not asserting superiority, even if the assertion is ownership by some race. No statement was made about the character, intelligence, or other personal characteristics of any race in particular.

quote:
The British monarchy has -all to do with running the UK or any of the Commonwealth nations. They are simply a side freak-show whose isolated wealth should be repatriated as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, I hear this canard a lot. There is no shortage of Canadians who are either truly ignorant about our country's history and heritage, or simply like to play dumb. Regardless of your personal feelings, however, the Queen does have executive power in Canada and can use it. It doesn't happen often, but as EvilTree points out, it's another check in our system.

Personally, I'd prefer a constitutional republic like the U.S. system, but neither one is without its problems.

quote:
Obviously, I am arguing that the concept of ownership of a nation is not as simple as you are making it to be, and that one aspect of determining ownership is the activeness of said "owner" in maintaining the nation.

Yes, clearly you're arguing this, but you aren't supporting your argument with anything. This belief certainly isn't reflected in the Canadian civil legal system; ownership is ownership, regardless of what said owner does. Where exactly does your definition (which you haven't even stated in concrete terms) apply, other than your own imagination?

quote:
No one can argue against Canada's global reputation as a nation of tolerance and multicultural peaceful co-existence, which is much more relevant to the immigration issue than an over-simplified discussion of the British monarchy.

Said reputation is really fairly new, as EvilTree also pointed out. Just over half a century ago we had Japanese internment, and a Chinese head tax. I won't delve into the issue of rationale or justifiability as that's a whole other debate in and of itself; however, this "global reputation as a nation of tolerance", in the utterly multi-culti way you're clearly implying, has absolutely nothing to do with the principles on which this country was founded. Civil liberties were an important theme at the time, which almost always leads to cultural diversity when put into practice, but it's important to distinguish between cause and effect.

More to the point, how this country is viewed from the outside really is not pertinent to the question of ownership. The independent value of diversity makes for a nice little philosophical debate after a couple of beers, but no matter how diverse a population or group is, even if diversity and "tolerance" are core values, it still doesn't make any difference as to who wears the pants.

quote:
I'm seeing the pattern of your posts, Diginut: you spend a lot of time redefining concepts in an attempt to change the premise of the argument to favour your own over-simplified pespective. :rolleyes:

I've redefined nothing. I'm using standard "over the counter" definitions and I think that is abundantly clear to most readers. It seems to be you who is using a purposefully vague definition of "ownership" in order to muddy the waters.

quote:
A more refined argument (which I can't be bothered to write up right now) would be to acknowledge the weakness of GQ's concept of "ownership" and then to point out how no such concept can exist in the liberal democratic system we have in Canada.

With all due respect, it would have to be a lot more refined than this one was to be very convincing, but by all means, if you think you'd be able to qualify such an argument, then please do. I'm definitely interested in hearing how you think liberal democracy now equates to anarcho-socialism.

I'd also like to point out that he prefers not to say what his sexuality is. Whatever that means.
