I heard something very thought provoking yesterday:
"If we believe that all cultures and all values are equal, then how do and how can we defend our own culture and values against others?"
Interesting concept the speaker presents. |

You don't have to believe that another culture is equal to your own, just respect it and respect others' right to live within it. Expect the same back. |

This sounds like what I used to say to my mom after my brother and I got into a fight when we were small.
"But mom, I didn't say he was an idiot, I said he sounded like an idiot."
They are both offensive. |
Perhaps both offensive to some (???) - but comparing someone to an idiot (by suggesting that they sound like one) is not the same as calling someone an idiot (aka name calling which is definitely immature)
And believe it or not - I actually tried make that distinction clear in my original post.
Furthermore - I believe (hope!) that I am not the only one who thinks that his statements sound idiotic (senseless and foolish)
While everyone is entitled to their own opinion - offensive remarks suggesting that non-white people are making "canada no longer canada" definitely incite my anger and provoke me to highlight this foolishness - and I'm caucasion!
OH and PS. All this use of the word "idiotic" is making me vaguely remember a song that I used to love called "idiotek" ... or something
Was it Oakenfold?
Does anyone know what I am talking about? |

What I read from that is:
"If we believe that we are equal, then how do and how can we defend ourselves against others?"
and that basically implies that we're not all human with all the same features inside and out.
maybe I'm reading too deep into it but bringing equality in the subject of cultures is really unnecessary. Who is one to say that some cultures are superior/inferior to others? |

^^ that's a favourite of mine to catch.
"should of" sounds similar to "should've" when speaking... so that must be why so often ppl type that w/o knowing better (I hafta assume)
yea, "should of" makes no sense.
Respect. ^5 |

some cultures are superior, but only within moral context.
for example, some cultures treat women like , and we know that is not morally right.
but if it's something like who's music is better or which food taste better, it's all matter of preference and no culture is superior or inferior in that context |

Its more about perspective.
for example, smoking weed here is a slap on the wrist and is marginally accepted by society while there is zero tolerance in several other parts of the world and u can be shun away for consuming. which is "morally" better? if u live here ur gonna say its better here and there would be just the opposite. |
