Guestlists. What are they good for? (pg. 2)

Lists are a good way for club managers to have an idea of how many people are coming to the club and which promoter is bringing them in. Unless the list offers no cover all night (or to a late hour, none of this 11pm BS) then I don't really see there being much benefit to the patron. |

yeah i definitely think guestlists suck, mainly because i am never on them....
but i guess they are useful to promoters so they can get an idea of who is coming, how many people are coming etc.
and i guess its a good way to attract people to a club, and build 'customer loyalty', etc. |

In most clubs in Toronto the average spent on the bar per person is under $15.
Now if you're doing an EDM event where you're spending thousands on DJs and promotions on top of your operational expenses.. alcohol along doesn't even come close to covering it. |

Pardon me for not going to the zone enough to know all the different ways to get in - I was simply referring to the pay-for-line-bypass-policy that the door staff is so fond of. |

There is a list at the zone.. but it's VERY limited. Like 10-20 people max. |

lol if i can get on a guest list i take full advantage of it. sometimes the lines are shorter, and sometimes the discount, or even comp, is worth it. 5$ is 5$ haha. ive never seen the guest list line at guv longer than the normal entry, or at any club for that matter.. but whatever.
and these days all you have to do to get on a list is email someone or join a facebook group. its really not that hard. |

I am ashamed to say that I am in this category! but hopefully wont be once i gradguate and get a job!
one time i managed to sneak in a water bottle full of rum into a club in my back pocket; it was great!
yeah and obviously when they are bringing a DJ in there needs to be some sort of cover... otherwise the club would just go bankrupt and then shut down... |

I think that an experienced club manager probably has a pretty good idea of how many people are going to come to a club on a given night, with or without guestlist lists. |
