There is something terribly wrong with the way the american health care works through insurance. Why should even small surgeries like appendectomy cost upwards of $ 20,000 ? It's ridiculous. Why is dental care so expensive ? Is there truly a need for the system to be so prohibitively expensive that you must have insurance to cover the costs? |
Paradoxically, the worse the service is, the more you pay. Because lower-quality service entails greater liability and thus higher costs of malpractice insurance, and because those costs are (naturally) passed on to the patient, the more horrendously incompetent the doctors staffing the health care industry are, the more it costs for the dubious privilege of subjecting oneself to their machinations.
Perhaps if doctors were half as good at actually practicing medicine as they are at selling patients on unnecessary or unhelpful treatments, insurers like Cigna would have less reason to be skeptical of such claims. |

Yes. They denied coverage earlier in the month, then decided to grant it when it was already too late. |
