I had a dream about cloverfield and the monster. It wasn't actually a monster, it was huuuuge aliens visiting our planet.

They had that reptilian middle part but head and feet were covered in white shiny plastic armor (think stormtroopers).

The problem was that they were so huge they didn't see us (10x the movie monster). So they went around shouting "come out, we know you are here somewhere!" while crushing cities with their feet. ing stupid aliens.

Yup...thats pretty much it. The little buggers explain the scene in the trailer when they yell "we have a bite" and try to drag the girl away before she inflates/explodes/whatever.

My friends are hyping this movie up like it's going to be the greatest film of the 21st century. Personally I'm pretty tired of monster movies, I'd rather see There Will Be Blood.

Hahaha, you know it is!

It would be such a poor, poor version of it, if it were, indeed, Cthulhu.

Cthulhu may be a hulking deity of the sea, but his power comes from his supreme ability to affect people on a mental level. His return will be heralded by excessive nightmares and widespread paranoia/hysteria, and that in people's subsequent insanity in the midst of such a being that implies our cosmic inconsequence, we would revel in the face of such oblivion. Billions of humans laughing themselves to death, most offering themselves willingly to be sacrifices to our New God.

That's what makes some of his works so insanely attractive to me.

I feel exactly the same way.

Lovecraft is likely my favourite author - he was this pale little racist man, who was practically phobic of vaginas and women. :stongue:

He's like, the quintessential poet. :p

He was a very scientific man - even a regional leader of several astronomy leagues and publications - and a strict atheist. That's where his stories shine the most, I think. The man believed we were utterly alone in the universe, so his mythos was free to bounce around his wildest and, so far as he was concerned, likely foolish imaginations. Like some cynical daydream, his body of works embodied exactly what he thought to be utter fantasy. I think this is a somewhat rare thing in authors - especially ones living in a time where science had not even developed to the point of what we know of space's vastness now days. What a guy.

This has now become my life's goal.

If only I were better at telling jokes.
