Of course, I have no idea what relatively successful labels are selling right now - but I'll tell you this much, if I have to spend 5 fewer minutes a week listening to the new generic tech/deep/prog house record du jour, I'll be happy.

Exactly, my time is money and even having to look at the releases gets under my skin. They should pay us to listen to half the crap I sit through on a daily basis.

No offence Darin, that is just my opinion. I personally wouldn’t release a track under that label like Rob said but this is just me. I hope the release goes well for sure.

No offense taken hahaha, I just did it because I like the one track.

I'm not really expecting it to do well, but maybe I'll get lucky. Cristian has a very loyal fanbase, he even has people helping him run his label for free, believe it or not.

I actually believe that completely - I can't imagine anyone getting paid for the he releases. :p

Territory restrictions are about as annoying as DRM (take that, iTunes! ziiing)

if you guys were unaware... Territory Restrictions and DRM are added by labels, not the retailers. Don't get mad @ Beatport if there's a track you can't buy... the label specifically wanted it that way.

Apple's iTunes got off the ground because the Majors wanted DRM if their tunes were sold digitally and they got it. Now Steve Jobs and other people have convinced a ton of labels to go DRM Free on iTunes or "iTunes Plus"...

As a label, you don't really want to even bother being anywhere else. The consumers aren't going to waste time shopping around 5 different stores when they know EVERY label is going to be in one place. So really, all the money in this industry is being lead one way or another to this online giant, and pretty soon you will see their market share quickly approach monopoly levels.

wrong... it really depends on the situation. Why limit yourself to just "DJs" purchasing your music. You don't spin to a bunch of "DJs" at a club do you? No, you play to people who enjoy the music for the most part and will probably purchase it at a given opportunity. I bet if you ask any random person in the club if they have heard of Beatport, you'll get a "No". So why limit the exposure of your music to just a site that we all know caters mostly to the industry itself.
