wrong... it really depends on the situation. Why limit yourself to just "DJs" purchasing your music. You don't spin to a bunch of "DJs" at a club do you? No, you play to people who enjoy the music for the most part and will probably purchase it at a given opportunity. I bet if you ask any random person in the club if they have heard of Beatport, you'll get a "No". So why limit the exposure of your music to just a site that we all know caters mostly to the industry itself.

True BUT... for example the labels I have spoken to... selling a dance track on iTunes is completely worthless. Same goes for Amazon. Not saying you're incorrect but just some food for thought.

the food you are speaking of is stale... why prevent your label/release/artist from getting more exposure? Isn't the ultimate goal of any producer/DJ/label to get exposure, develop new fans and create a snowball effect and promote the scene we are involved in?

Again... why limit your exposure to a mostly DJ customer base? Having all of your releases available at any major retailer could net you additional fans in places you couldn't have imagined because those people didn't know about Beatport but have iTunes. If a label only wants to cater to that kind of clientèle then it's their prerogative

Beatport is actually trying to help by implementing this and have released this pdf with some interesting tidbits:

Everything you're saying is true, but the average joe shmoe isn't actively looking for underground music. They'll only be attracted to names like Sasha or Eric Prydz. So really, spreading out your revenue amongst different websites might not necessarily be as effective for your label as making a big impression on the most important site, via sales charts etc. The statement I was trying to make was more of a "why would you want to be anywhere but Beatport" type deal. If the sales on other websites are really as pathetic as people tell me they are, it's not even worth the extra effort to spend all that time preparing for it. Unless of course, you are using a distributor like Ingrooves to do the work for you, but in that case you might be better off setting up an exclusive account at Beatport by yourself to keep your costs down. Just my thinking.

I'll make sure to read that article :)

Yes, I'm fully aware. It's all about label / distribution contracts and such. It's just frustrating that there are a reasonable number of tracks that I want to buy and I can't. To be perfectly honest I will go illegitimately download a lot of them. All they're doing is losing business.

I have a nice system worked out with another TA in the Netherlands where we pretty much make sure each other has what they want, but sometimes even that doesn't work. In those cases, I don't illegitimately download a lot of them, I'll get them all.

If I want to buy a track and labels make that impossible there's really no other options left.

I must be one of the lucky ones, I haven't really bumped into territory restrictions all that much. I usually can live without the track in that case. These territory restrictions are funny business, one time I tried buying something from a label in the US and I was territory restricted!
