please don't make me go searching for YOUR generalizations
| quote: | | I am not belittling the fact that he died. It is a shame, and a loss, especially for such a young life, and even more so since he has young offspring. But Jem said it, can you really say you grieve, thus feel pain, over him the same way that you would were you to lose someone personally close to you? |
and as I answered already - there's no need (in my opinion anyway) to justify the fact that someone feels sorrow over a death of a young actor, they just do! obviously there's no need to go on a grieving rampage for days, driving oneself into depression, but it's absolutely human to feel sad about it |

If you feel you must, go right ahead. You made a generalization, I'm sure I made some in the past. Your point exactly? <- see I can do that too (Its a joke :) )

Again, not sure what your point is. I never asked you, nor anyone else, for justification as to why they may be grieving or feeling sorrow. I merely stated my position that his carreer, celebrity status, whatever, are nothing special, and in no way add to the loss of his death. Nor did I ever say that it was inhuman to feel sad over it. |

Locally, five ppl were involved in a car crash when their SUV collided with an Ottawa transit bus last night, all in their 20s with three of them pronounced dead. This happened just hours ago, and no doubt these unfortunates were probably just as shocked as us yesterday when they heard of Heath Ledger.
You never know what's around the corner but when you can, you have to minimize the chances of perishing early when you can. Party safe, drive safe and take nothing for granted.

and at the end of the day, that's the part that's most troubling about us humans. Granted, Mr Ledger is a part of pop culture, receives exposure for being in movies, the media, etc, and thus we think we know of him (or think we do), but we really don't. |

too bad
there's always another actor/actress waiting...everyone is dispensable |

my reply was going back to Jem's point which you mentioned
I, on the other hand, felt that you were trying to say that his death is nothing extraordinary, just like all other deaths are nothing extraordinary (celebrities or not)
do I make sense now? i hope so!:toothless |

Supposedly he has been overworking (playing the joker) and has become restless and somewhat manic because of this.....was prescribed sleeping pills, and he OD'd on the sleeping pills. |

Even if it was it's still sad -- don't judge from the outside, some can fight their demons, some succumb.
|
that's how i also feel.
I only heard this morning about this.
RIP. |

This is so sad... he's an amazing actor... and had a two-year-old daughter.
The article I read said he was found naked in his bed with pills beside him.
I fell in love with that Aussie a long time ago in "10 Things I Hate About You"
RIP :( |
i fell in love with a Knight's Tale! |

Saw the posts before stating he was in 10 Things I Hate About You...
but now that I read that0 he was also in a Knight's Tale, and after picturing a familar face and aussie accent constant in both movies, ive finally come realize who he is, lol.
i had no idea before.
anyways, RIP to the aussie. I did very much like him in both those movies, too. |
