but it does make it easier to arrange a meeting with a bunch of friends? i mean, calling every single person, or MSNing or some bull like that, waste of time. just twitter that you and your buddy are at so and so at 8:30 pm and go on with your life.
i like it a lot more than Facebook's status update because you are not forced to read 500 status updates from people that suck at updated just to read the 10 that actually know what they are doing.
i also get CNN Breaking News to my cell phone which is awesome since i am the first to know any real important news directly into my phone without having to sign up to some weird email program.
plus i think it also helps to keep track of what you did yourself. i am going to love going back during the summer to remember and laugh at all the times i was snowed in this witer.
i understand that all of you are now old and afraid of checking out new stuff but don't put down great technology just because you don't think it would suit you. you can keep putting it down but the people ahead of the curve are embracing new things and becoming part of them. do you really want to sound like a bunch of 80 year old talking about how good it was in the old days? lol. |

I am trying to embrace it, but after only having been active on it for a day I am already finding it a bit much and not that useful. Any tips on how to get the most out of Twitter? |

Edit:
Toronto places 8th in the world for Twitter users
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20081223.rtwitter1223/BNStory/Technology/home
....Toronto has (or maybe had) the highest population of facebook users too.
We need to get reconnect with the REAL world
on the flip side... Marketers love this |

Use your tweets as a teaser for something larger. Twitter is VERY useful for directing attention to other aspects of your online presence.
This article articulates it pretty well |

Just sent an SMS or BB Message and you'll be fine.

I HATE texting!
Now that I have a better phone I do find myself enjoying it a BIT more as I do recognize the convenience of being able to communicate with someone while at work/school/in a club....
But having a 'conversation' via SMS boggles my mind. You talk to someone using the least amount of words possible and I never know when the 'conversation' is over. So many times I get confused if I should reply or if thats it.
But I much rather a phone call.

Great article, thanks! Now that I've begun building my network and done more exploring I'm starting to appreciate it more, especially all the interesting links. This has a lot of potential for me, being in PR/media :) |
