Great article, thanks! Now that I've begun building my network and done more exploring I'm starting to appreciate it more, especially all the interesting links. This has a lot of potential for me, being in PR/media :) |
what's your twitter id?
now that they don't allow direct texting to the phone in canada, the usefulness for twitter has really gone down for me. |

likewise.
I used it mainly for TTC related updates. Real time updates regarding issues and delays. |

i basically use it as a news and opinion service for tech news and other interesting tidbits.
it's interesting to see what the people are discussing about politics too. |

The only use i see in Twitter is that it is possible to get the latest news on it (albeit without much details). Like the plane crash recently from which someone "twitted" (whatever the term is), or if there's an earthquake somewhere there will be a twit.
Then you have to wait until the news sites/tv channels provide you with the actual news/numbers etc.
However, usually its just ppl linking to other stories that are already on the net (this is especially true for the Tech stuff).
Currently the CES is going on, so I go on a twitter page and it says "SONY's new OLED TV's look amazing but expensive". Great, where are the details? none. As far as I am concerned that is a totally useless piece of information. Its like saying "ooooh stoneface & terminal are coming to toronto"...but no details on when/where..nothing.
Finally, most of the twitter users, like it has been said earlier only post nonsense like I am taking my dog for a walk...honestly, no one gives a f*ck.
Twitter just seems to me like a online rss feed u can update...
/end rant |

The online world IS the real world.
People who socailize alot online are the same people who socialize alot in the "real" world. All of these tools make it easier for us to stay "connected" with everyone we know....there's been a fair amount of studies on this. I'd find a llink right now, but really can't be bothered to look.
I have a twitter acount and get confused the odd time I log in. It seems to be really popular with people who are in the media field, but don't think it's gonna catch on to the college/uni types like facebizzle did. |

it has been said that such things as twitter are for those who are insecure about everything and use it to get feedback from their friends about EVERYTHING they do, just to see if they are doing the social norm.
.. but I'm no judge of such things  :tongue2  ;) :D |

Right. So every little thing I do I gotta keep it updated with Twitter?
Don't see this catching on at all, partly because I just can't see very many people typing in "sitting down to eat some soup" into their cellphone for every little daily task that they do.
- "feeding the cat" 1 hour 30 minutes ago
- "going to take the morning " 1 hour 40 minutes ago
- "had a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast" 1 hour 50 minutes ago
- "just woke up" 2hrs ago |
That bagel went through you in ten minutes!? |

Now this is bull.... sorry if I'm upset... I go through all the trouble of getting signed up, and it's only good for Bell phone customers :whip:

it's useless to me now |
