Office 2007 is TERRIBLE.

They oversimplified it to the point where it's unusable.

On a side note, most universities offer the newest version of Office, free of charge. You just have to know where to look and who to ask. Totally legal, too!

I love it. However, outside of typing up essays and making half-assed PowerPoint presentations for class projects, I never really dabble into either MS Office or OO at all.

Werd.

Honestly, they had NO reason to make it uber-graphical. I shouldn't have had to struggle to find paragraph spacing the other day.

Sad that I can't blame it on Bill Gates anymore.

Yeah, I wouldn't use it for much more than that.

All I wanna know is, will it still read/edit/whatever all the MS stuff I already have? Mostly just .doc stuff I guess?

openoffice is ok for basic things. however, the file format IS different. you miss out on a lot of things such as section and footer breaks. you will often find documents made in OO won't turn out well in office.

so, basically, if you intend on just printing out docs for yourself, it is fine. if you need to send docs to other people, stick with office.

my professor was speaking of this. it's called the microsoft academic alliance or something like that. if your university is enrolled to it, they can provide their students with almost any microsoft software, free of charge (for educational purposes only of course! ;) ) unfortunately, my university isn't enrolled :sadgreen:

Oh man, first time I used Office 2007 was the beginning of last semester, and I couldnt figure out how to do anything at first. They changed a lot of around, things that didnt need to be messed with if you ask me.
