WTF? the terrace is the whole reason to go to space. Apparently you were supposed to find a "hostess" and pay another $60 to go upstairs. Again WTF!! Did anyone else witness this nonsense?? |
hmmm interesting! who was spinning there that night?
if it was for Sander/PvD, i was standing right by the stairs to go up to the terrace cuz i was really interested to see Rene Amesz open up again for Sander like he did in 2006
security said "that they werent letting up any people until the fire marshalls checked some things out" after about 45 mins or so, keep in mind we all got there around 1130, the fire marshalls strolled in & proceeded up to the terrace.
they stayed up there for about 45 mins & then gave the OK for people to go up and if you werent standing right by the stairwell you were SOL. they let up about 200 people initially & maybe 45 or so every hour, we along w/the majority of our big crew got to see Amesz w/pretty much the whole terrace to ourselves
but i had friends who were trying to get up there for over 2hrs w/no luck, they were only letting more peeps up when they were too overcrowded downstairs for PvD
definitely sucks, but Sander didnt disappoint
that being said, he wasnt as good as 2006 but im hopin for a really good set this year |

Clov, would you agree that the Standard on a good night blows away the terrace? |
:haha: your kidding right? standard is a great place to grab a drink and socialize maybe i would compare it to some of our finer outdoor hotel scenes in brickell or the beach but it has no business being compared to the space terrace. i must have missed all those SanderK live from the Standard Hotel essential mixes. I've partyed the US over and theres no better spot for EDM then that terrace, not even close. not with the latinas, 24 hr liquor license, open to 2pm every sunday, talent, extended sets, kryo and sound system. |

| i have to say i used to love space but last year during the conference for pvd/sander it was a mess around 230 they wouldnt let me upstairs and i paid almost $70 for a dam ticket. now i finally got upstairs somehow late in the night i would say i was lucky but paying all that money it shouldnt have been any problem. now the bouncers wouldnt even let ya rest on this seating thing in the front area near the front door entrance ya couldnt sit but you could stand i guess it cost money to sit down too. then following night for yooshi same nonsense all over again, this time i wasnt getting into the terrace and i was much earlier. so got so fed up i just bounced because event hough i love deep dish i wanted to see many of the artists in the terrace. so believe what i say its true it does happen. just roll the dice maybe you get into the terrace otherwise show up mad early and walk around until you get bored or tired and spend more money in the club |

Space is in fact enforcing their DOOR POLICY so far. I was there sat night & denied entrance to some peeps who were not dressed to their standards.

Are you talking about the Miami Standard or the Los Angeles roof top one? |

they have done the 18+ thing for a while. In Florida, you can allow 18-20 year old people in your club as long as they don't drink (yeah good luck with that). |
Do you think space would actually let in people from another state,if they are 19yrs old + as long as they don't drink ?
I would really, really, like to know |

| i would have to say no a big fat nooooo!!!!! that place space gets so packed they can turn down who they want. they turn away plenty people that are 21 so dont even bother unless ya got a fake id play it safe. this is coming from someone whos not bias i used to love the club but last year was downhill from years previous. great club/sounds/djs crappy staff and a lot of bs to deal with. space used to be one of my favorite clubs in the world. |

normally Space lets in girls 18-20 on Sat nites. but during the conference its only 21+. what state you are from doesn't matter. most bars/clubs in florida give you bracelets or hand stamps to show you are 21+ if they let in those who are 18-20...basically you are on the honor system to not drink (yeah right). if they catch you they just kick out out of the bar. having said that, basically 100% of the venues used at the WMC are 21+ all the time. Ultra is about the only event that is open to all. |

Your ID will work just about anywhere. Don't go to space though for all of the reasons above.
For more proof, go into the archives forum or something and dig up the WMC07, '06, '05, etc boards, and look for all the ' YOU SPACE' threads. Not to rant, but they overcharge, restrict movement, oversell tickets, and treat you like . If you don't mind putting up with that and absolutely have to have a sandercheese sandwich then go for it. I'll be at the pawnshop next door.

I posted in that thread & some of the posts I made back then I have made in this years threads as well.
Take notes if u wanna make ur WMC experience a fun one.
My only main concern is getting to Space late to get in the terrace for Morrillo.
As far as I can see they are not doing the same cluster they did w/ the Space PAss like they did in that year. Which is a good thing. THAT year they had to close the whole street dwon cuz of how extremely packed Space was outside w/ those PASSES they sold that year.
So I'm crossing my fingers the cluster won't happen again.
