So you're saying to basically ignore the concept of the album...? |
No, but some people obviously have a problem with the huge amount of layering. So, it might be a good idea to listen to the CD while not paying so much attention to it.
| quote: | | Originally posted by IpLaYWiTLiGhTs Digweed was trying to give a go at Ableton and he failed, miserably. I think he was tinkering with something he hasn't had much experience with. I don't blame him, the possibilities COULD be amazing. I think he was impressed with what he could do, but it seems a bit amateur compared to what other artists have accomplished. |
I really don't know about Ableton, lol. Why do you say it's amateur in comparison? |

Oh me neither. ed around with it a few times, but no experimenting done really.
I meant I think the overall product isn't up to par compared to other works done with the program. I really want Richie Hawtin to come up with a compilation soon. I'm sure with all the experience he has with Ableton he could really put out something worth listening to. |

| digweed does fine with ableton, he just tried to do too much with this cd.there are some tracks that he shouldn't have even touched on there that were fine the way they were made.its like once you get a taste of some kinda groove, the other track kicks in and ruins it.the cd isn't trash, but it isn't very good either. i have no more comments on this topic. |

Oh, OK. Except I'm not really into Richie Hawtin's bleepy-bloopy style. It's just not my cup of tea. |

| I actually really liked this. A smidge too busy at points, but overall this was stellar for me. |

I think Scion made even better work with this. At least the music is much better IMO :) |

though im not a big fan of Digweeds sound, ill be the last to deny he's a great dj/producer. cuz .. he just is! thats why i was just a tad bit interested in this cd, and for some reason (perhaps the main/usual reson; 'lets just grab this cd so i can store it in my digital music library') i downloaded this compilation/mix-cd
i never listen to diggers, but this cd really catched my attention. after the first listen, especially the first half, i must say; 'well done mixing of some nice deep techy house music, with Balls!' thats the first phrase which comes to my mind if i were to describe this cd briefly. :D |

It DOES say "Digweed" and even if it didn't, what's the big deal? He's been changing his style over the years and has always managed to stay fresh and surprising due to his knack for finding great tunes regardless of genre. You say it's forgettable, I say it might even become a classic, but who knows?
Just get over the layering and enjoy it for what it is, a great set of great tunes! |
agreed :) but i think it is a bit 'sashafied'.....its definitely making me jam on the floor and it has a ton of character ***at times angry*** I love it but again to each their own since it is a very personal choice |

| Listened again while stuck in traffic coming home from work and it gets better with each listen for me. I started thinking how come some people really hate this and I think it's mainly the people who know most of the tracks already. Since I've practically never heard any track on this CD before it sounds all fresh and the layering is not so evident to my ears. Anyways, remarkable stuff from Digweed! |

| mixing is good, some of the track selection is questionable. No real killer tracks for me. The last one was better (T-3) even though it also had 2 or so tracks that bother me every time I listen. |
