Writing off a season after one game?
Surely you're not serious soups. We lost our first 3 last year and finished 3rd by the end of the season. The Bulldogs thumped Geelong round one last year and look what happened to those teams respectively at the end. Surely being a St Kilda supporter you understand that how you start a season can often have no bearing on where you finish it (or visa versa for that matter).
Having said that the roos were disappointing once the tables were turned. We were all over Essendon for the first quarter and a half & would have probably kicked them out of it if we had have kicked straight. I joked at the time that it felt like the '98 Grand Final a little (i think we kicked 10 points 2 goals in a quarter and kept Adelaide in that one until they ran right over the top of us)... Turned out I was right lol. You've got to take your chances when the game is played as fast as it is these days & Essendon certainly did a much better job of that than North. |
