Actually the research was done for him. The promoter sent them the list of items that are prohibited in the UAE. I guess he didn't bother to look at the memo. |

Wow... this is madness.
I've always been so fascinated by Dubai... kinda tainted now.
Having said that, if anyone would like to take me to the Burj Al-Arab for a night - I will accept with pleasure :toocool: lol |
Unless your a shopaholic.. it's really a boring country with cheap food!
Burj Al-Arab is nice , but Burj Al-Dubai is a ing monster! 800 meters high! |

You gotta know you are going to a country with different laws. No one forgets about a bag of weed. No one.... |
Totally agree here I was thinking the same thing. At least its not Singapore as was already mentioned. He would be dead. |

yea saw that on the news. arrested for like this tiny little speck of weed on the bottom of his shoe |
Such a small amount. That person could have come into contact with anyone and it costs them jail time. An amount so tiny as 0.003 grams should never get anyone in trouble, ************ of what country your visiting. Technically with UAE frame of mind, you could do jail time with even smaller trace amounts if it could be detected. If it could, would they convict for molecular sized traces? You may laugh and scoff, but I'm serious. This 0.003 is so ing small it's bull these ppl are that ed in the head for pursuing a conviction. |

Placing judgement on UAE is simply denying the laws in the own countries you all live in.
Legally at least, be it the Uk, the Usa, or what not, most countries have very strict laws which were established over 50+ years ago ( it all depends obviously some more recent, some more older ).
For example,b y law, by it's textbook definition, possession of drugs is passable of an abundant amount of years in prison in the United States.
Are these rules still firmly applied today?
No, due to the simple fact tolerance and the notions of liberty have evolved over time.
The rules are still there, but their applications have become more lax.
As such we are faced with the same situation with how the law is being applied towards Grooverider. I'm not going to make any comments on the poppy seed, and grain of rice sized piece of substance found on someones shoe as much has already been said.
UAE, it's openness to the outside world is all fairly recent. One cannot expect them to be as tolerant just yet, and perhaps they never will be. |

i didnt expect such a narrow view from you dude. honestly. things such as this have always been pretty tolerant. even back in the the day. it just depends on many factors. the BIGGEST difference is discretion. everywhere else in the world they would exercise discretion and not arrest nor charge someone for a grain of sugar sized piece of weed, or 2 poppy seeds on your shirt, or a very small and unusable piece on your shoe. while i agree it is illegal ot be in posession of all of the substances, you dont throw someone in jail in posession of microscopic amounts of anything. |
