But a PlayStation Blog reader wanted a bit more value in his bundle, according to MCV. The reader hit the comments section of the PlayStation Blog post with a backwards compatibility question, and he received this response:
Yes, similar to the Motorstorm bundle, the new MGS4 bundle features an 80GB PS3 with some PS2 backwards compatibility.
As far as hardware goes, that's just about everything you could ask for in a PS3 bundle. Nice job, Sony. Make sure you have your online component going strong by then, please.
Oh, and I'm feeling pretty good about the June 12th date CTZ mentioned yesterday. VideoGame Forums has scans of the Japanese PlayStation magazine, and the date is all up in those pages. If Kojima and Konami hold up to their simultaneous worldwide release promise, we'll have this game in our hands in a few short months. |

Also, off Kotaku they confirmed that this PS3 will have FULL backwards-compatibility.
*Edit - Realized just now that the article states that plain and clear.
On top of that, this thing hits in June, right around when everyone gets their tax rebates courtesy of the US.
Sony will strike gold on this one, for sure.
A blu-ray player (the winning HD format), PS1, PS2, PS3, MGS4 (one of the most hyped games of 08), and a brand new controller with rumble and sixaxis tilt for only $500? You'd be insane to pass it up. |

LoL won't happen they will see significant sales, from me including :o , but just look at the numbers it's not even close. |

I seriously can't wait for this to come out. This game, along with the next Gran Turismo game (which will be released this april) are the reasons I got a PS3.
In the mean time while waiting I have been playing CoD4. |

You are right, my bad, but it should also be noted that the same exact statement was made for ALL the PS3's before (the ones that had backwards compatibility), so what I meant to say was that this bundle is just like the Motorstorm one. Not the 40GB one. |

I dunno, I think the whole "PS3 Wins in 2008" meme is gonna set a lot of Sony fans up for disappointment... MGS4 should be a fantastic game but unfortunately, the series isn't really a system seller anymore. The sales drop from MGS2 and 3 was really great, and the MGS series isn't nearly as mainstream-friendly as something like Wii Sports or (unfortunately) GTA is.
I just wish for full hardware backwards compatibility on this PS3... or a reduced price. I want to get a PS3 for MGS4 and FFXIII, but the price still holds me back... |
