It is true that most peeps that download would not have paid for it to begin with, and I tire of seeing these greedy ass companies cry about how they lose Millions and even Billions in some cases, which is completely false. I have paid for games many times that were utter and feeling like I just got robbed of my money too many times over, lol. |
You are a complete idiot.
PKC, this is pretty much exactly what I believe you and I were talking about in the gaming forum a few weeks back - and though people are more than welcome to bring up other media, the fact of the matter is that PC gaming is perhaps the realm most significantly affected by piracy (as clearly indicated by the decline of all non-MMO PC game sales over the course of the last 5 to 10 years).
Unfortunately there has been a fundamental paradigm shift in the way people spend their money on media, and that attitude is best represented by the "I should be able to try it all before I buy it all" mindset (a very, very new aspect of consumer habits). This is far more damaging to PC games for a few reasons:
01. You can't rent PC games.
02. There is no PC game radio, club, live show, live set, etc.
03. There is no PC game TV channel.
...
And one could go on and on about the differences between PC games and other media people try to compare it to. At the end of the day it's incredibly easy for most pc gamers to pirate the software they wish to play, a fact that is aided by the general tech savvy nature of PC gamers. So people can piss and moan about how the record industry is dying, people don't go to movies anymore, etc. - but in the end there is no better example of what damage the attitude of piracy can do than the PC game industry. |

I'm talking about the fact that you don't seem to have a clue what you're talking about.
Though I guess you're probably right, the number of game studios closing their doors and the complete dropoff in PC game sales probably isn't losing anyone any money - how dare they complain.
Thank you for opening my eyes, I can't believe I was so wrong.

Ok heres a little help for u...most people can't and will not buy a PC that costs over 3k which is what u need to play most PC games the way they are meant to be played. 2nd, we have many kick ass consoles on the market that are just as good graphics wise as PC's for 1/4 of the cost with many more titles to choose from. 3rd...LACK OF SOMETHING NEW WE HAVEN"T SEEN! How many Medal of honors do we need? |
