That's what I'm waiting for, then I can ditch using a DVS at all.

That's a good point about the 400s. You can bet all of those features will be in the 1000mk4. Right now, as Ryan said, there just doesn't seem to be enough on the 1000mk3s to warrant the price difference from the 800mk2s IMO. |

Uhh, no, I have 1000s. lol I got them because I figure they are a better investment, the mk2 800 wasn't out at the time.
I mix on 1000s with 6% or sometimes +/-10%, doesn't make much of a difference for me. |

I have both an 800mk2 and a 1000mk3... Get one of each, i dont regreat it....
the 800mk2 has broken on me and it cost me 300 to repair it though |

| Here's a slight twist...what about a 1000MK2? Would that be worth getting or no? |

They are almost exactly the same as the MK3 minus:
1. Torq adjust knob (never needed it)
2. 3 storable loops vs. 1
3. Slightly higher res wave display
4. MP3 support (MP3 CD's are a bad idea)
So depends on price and condition.

People put too much into these threads....
If you have the cash, buy top of the line . It pays off. |

1. Not needed, though nice.
2. Not needed
3. Not needed
4. Not needed
Perhaps that answers my question then...1000MK2 it is (depending on condition of course). |

1. Not needed, though nice (as you said)
2. Not needed, unless you need 3 store points
3. Not needed, unless higher res means you can read the track better.
4. Not needed, unless you play MP3s |

For what exactly? If you can't hold a mix with the 800mk2 you're probably not that good in the first place. Other than that I fail to see any extra features you would realistically put to good use. Maybe the waveform display? Def not worth an extra 500$.
Mk3s are nice, no doubt, but def not a necessity. |
hold a mix? i don't know where you got that from my reply. i just said they don't hold a candle to the 1000mk3.
why do pro's use mk3's?
why do the biggest clubs in the world have mk3's?
because they are black and cooler looking? i think not... it's because they are superior in every way to the 800's. i'm sticking to what i said earlier. the 800's don't hold a candle to the 1000's.
if i had a choice (like the poster of this thread), i'd get the 1000's. |

Of course the pro's get Mk3's, as do the clubs. The $500 difference in price doesn't matter to them. If you have the cash, then yes by all means buy the 1000's. Nobody has said not to.
It's just that the people on here are bedroom DJ's with a budget, asking if the price difference is worth it. I say no, when that money could be better spent on a really nice mixer or what not. And with technology changing so fast, you'll be replacing the decks in a year anyway.
