It is though. :p Thats why most guys gave up vinyl, and ty needles, unbalanced tone-arms, used motors, and skipping in favor of CDJs which are exactly the same in every single club in the world. |
er...no. most people gave up vinyl cos it's expensive, heavy and you can't fit 10 tracks on thing that costs 10p, not becuase it's not standardised. If anything, CD's (especially the mp3's they are made up of) have a much greater variance in quality as vinyl mastering engineers really know what they are doing. Clubs put them in due to the demand of DJ's that find carrying a cd wallet a lot easier (in all respects as above) than a couple of boxes of vinyl. It was also a lot easier to receive someones latest track via email, rather than a 12" piece of breakable mail.
Last, and really big reason clubs have CDJ's (and why we feel we have to have the latest 1000's) is....marketing - you've got to give it to pioneer - they have this one truly wrapped up. They give it to certain DJ's and clubs at big discounts, if not free, then we all rush out and buy them at full whack. |

Must be the only one left. Most clubs I've worked at don't even have turntables anymore. If they do you have to go in the back and get them, then set them up properly yourself. Sometimes you'll find some already setup being used as a CD wallet tray. |

Me too. Nearly all the clubs I've been to recently have turntables and I'm seeing/hearing more and more people say they love vinyl. Not just dj's, but punters who don't want to see two hours of mouse clicking for their cover charge. |

| Are there any tricks or anything special you can do on the 1000's that you can't do on the 800's (aside from the Hot Cues and 0.02% pitch adjustments...though these are more features and not so much tricks). |

Well that was completely unhelpful. Please refrain from posting unless you've got something productive to say. Thanks. |

| Buy the 800s b/c you use the money you save for a better mixer. If you end up playing out eventually the 800s feel very similar to the 1000s. |

Listen here Mr DJ.
If you'd been round here for longer than 5 minutes OR you'd decided to search before asking the same question someone asks every day - then you'd understand my 'tongue in cheek' post.
Way to make yourself look like a proper nooooooooob!
EDIT: I've just checked out your myspace page. You need to stop talking about yourself in the 3rd person, it makes you look like a c*nt. Again, something that has frequently been discussed on this board in the past. |
