| I'm guilty of loving gin and tonic with lemon, but not in large quantities. If I'm drinking a lot it rye and coke or rye and ginger. |

Not at all. It's a rather refined beverage... the good stuff is very complex. |

No. And as others have stated, if you get the cheap crap then YES, it will taste like pine needles. But gin was originally made from juniper berries, yes..?
Anyway, these days you can drink gin like you drink wine. It can be incredibly complex and interesting. Take a personal favourite of mine, for instance: Hendrick's Gin. This gin is awesome. It's nice on its own or a martini, and it tastes a little different because they travel away from the ordinary introducing the combination of juniper, coriander, citrus peel, cucumber, and bohemian rose petal. They suggest serving it with a garnish of cucumber to enhance it, so naturally I had to try it. And it's actually pretty damn good. :)
Of course, this is just my opinion.. and I love my gin.
But before I was spoiled by Hendrick's, my favourite drink would have to be gin and club soda with a wedge of lemon and lime. And the club soda I am very picky about..it is not the same as tonic!!! yarr to bartenders who don't know the difference.. i keel you! The quinine aftertaste is yuck to me. :) But if there's nothing else, I'll settle. Lol. Also, when I lived in New Zealand, they kept wanting to give me lime cordial instead of a lime wedge.. it was odd, and nothing alike. Apparently limes are really expensive there though, so not many places carry them.

Beefeater tastes exactly like pine? I took a shot of that, and regretted it after. Horrible taste. |
Yeah, cuz it's the cheap stuff. Point proven.

I was just sitting around last night so I had a jagerbomb, just cuz it's so fun to drink. |
Lol, Croucher... you would. :) aha. Yeahhh Jagerbombs!!!
The problem with getting Jagerbombs in this damn country is that most people..
a) don't know how to make them and
b) (most importantly) don't know how to store Jager!!!
Hint: it says on the label "Serve Chilled". It's meant to be stored in the freezer (not fridge), and it astounds me how many people/bars keep it on the top shelf. Otherwise, essentially, it tastes like crap. (but that's just my opinion again, right?)
Wow, that was kind of a huge bitch. Lol.
I think I came in a little late on this discussion too, eh? |

you won't taste the gin in that beverage...so there is really no point in 'trying' gin if you are masking the flabour with sweets/sours.
buy some tanqueray, chill it, drink cold with different mixes on the side.
If you still don't like it, I guess I'll take the rest off your hands for ya. |
