Cogito Ergo Sum

So you assume that whatever can think exists? What about things that don't think, so they exist? How is thinking a proof for your existence? Thinking, in and of itself is not something. Wouldn't you agree that existence is something tangible?

I must exist in order to doubt my existence. If I don't exist, and doubt my existence, my doubt cannot exist, and that's just plain absurd.

By the way, have you ever read Descartes?

I save these thoughts for when I'm in an altered state. Much more fun then.

I am actually writing a rather lengthy paper on this topic right now - specifically on theories from these two fellows:

Douglas Hofstadter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_a_Strange_Loop

Wilfrid Sellars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilfred_Sellars

Self referential loops FTW!

Ah, so how does tangibility come intangibility. Where does the "stuff" we're made of come from to bring about our existence? Aren't we just waves of energy?

Haha, yea, that's why i made this thread. I've been reading about cogito ergo sum.
