I finally got around to listening to this last weekend.

Pretty good, but I thought the start was quite shaky. The first track just kind of blasted out of no-where without any real intro or tension-build, and then the first mix was incredibly sudden and jarring.

Past that, you seemed to improve as you went along, with the highlight for me definitely being tracks 9-12.

Yeah I didn't like the start either .. maybe the after first 3 or 4 tunes it went more to my liking. I will be posting up another later on. Thanks for having a listen :)

If you like progressive psy then Liquid Soul - Love In Stereo must be the greatest release in ages. Finally someone has stayed true to the sound and didn't go all electro/minimal.

Its a 10/10.:D

The First Stone - Deep Space 1 [Vagalume Records]

B-B-BANG!

This is a side project of Burn In Noise/Guy Manfroni Amaral de Souza with his brother and two other guys.

Three quality, quality tunes on the release, two being complete fist pumpers and the other a deeper, more psychedelic affair.

Finally got around to listening to the new Liquid Soul album.

Absolutely beautiful! The artwork is simplistic but also very nice.

I can't get over the fact that you're so young. How does one get into psy at such a young age, with the exception of having a parent, sibling or other close relative heavily involved? I'm intrigued and impressed.

How are you going to get there without a driver's license? :gsmile:

My dad probably, another bitch about how everyone there is smoking weed to my mum yet again most likely afterwards, but it'll be worth it.

Well funny story behind that actually. My dad was into synth classical/classic trance when I was younger, so I kind've grew up around that, although listening to some eurodance(still loved william orbit-adagio for strings though, so not all bad) etc in about 1998-2000. I then mostly stopped listening to stuff for a while, only to get into pop/house 2004-2005, around the start of year 7/2006 I heard an ad gatecrasher classics on the tv, and ofc barbars adagio for strings so I convinced my dad to get it, and loved it(so did my dad actually). I kind've got bored of it and went back to listening to pop a little bit for about 3 months to a year after that, and then decided to join TA after listening to it again and loving it (again). After a few torrents which were kind've average quality... I was a little dissapointed, but continued listening for a while anyway. I then was talking to a guy on eve online, and I'm like, oh how awesome is tiesto? He's like tiesto, nah... you should listen to infected mushroom, blah blah blah blah, sun project, astral projection, tons of others I can't remember.

I then found myself really enjoying IM's stuff, allmost entirely b.p. empire onward (except for maybe dream theatre/psycho and dracul) and listening to it exclusively for ages. I then kinda got bored for a couple of months, although not really going back to pop, and finding vod's psytrance collections, and really enjoying psy, listening to a few mixes (dj eccentrics psycko therapy wasn't exactly a bad first dl either) from here, and getting into the usual full on stuff. I then started doing "mixes" with audacity, although no beatmatching was involved :(. I remember listening to the distance to goa series, and not really liking it that much... it was old... and different, a little too complicated at the time, however when I found goa head I fell in love with goa trance and started hating anything with a full on psy bassline shortly after :P. I then got into distance to goa a bit, but not anywhere near as much as the goa head series, unfortunately... I got to the end of it (or the good part anyway) but still ended up listening to seriously the same lot of 10-12 series for 6 months straight. Around about 7 months ago, I heard some absolutely amazing techno/psy tekk sets on techno.fm and kind've got into that, although not really listening significantly. About a month or so after that I found dj sonix-a jungle out there, and although at first thinking, how there is absolutely no fricken way the music is that fast, after about 15 minutes... it was absolutely crazy and awesome, and thats still most definitely my favourite dnb set which I listen to fairly regularly. More recently, like last 5 months... I got more into the distance to goa series, it having so absolutely amazingly deep tunes. As well as IM-the gathering, which is allmost certainly my most favourite album ever, unlike any other really, although theres no standout melodies and the synth design isn't that great... somehow the flow is incredible, and gets better every listen... and is simply an amazing journey.

In about the past month/and a half or so I've been getting back into psy again, although I now know a bit more what to avoid and what I don't like, but theres certainly some great artists out there still. XSI being a particular favourite. I've also kind've gotten into tangerine dream and techno(although obviously unrelated, I love how some melodic techno is like classic trance) a bit more too. That liveset someone posted here link a bit back was simply amazing, and I must hear more. I listen to dnb/liquid funk a bit too but thats more my pop type music, although infinitely more fun then pop nonetheless. Hell even some rob zombie/powerman 5000 too when I'm really bored, although industrial/the darker varients of rock are kind've on, needs more good music before I can get into more status.

I guess now I'm mainly into Psy/goa/classic still, same old same old... but sometimes ambient/techno can be just as amazing as well. As it stands, my wantlist keeps getting bigger, and people keep making tons of amazing albums, so I think I'll be listening to psy (and most certainly edm)for a long time. At the very worst I'll end up becoming all jaded and listening to ambient, I mean honestly, so much better then classical:tongue2. Oh yes, it turns out one of my friends is now into psy/goa trance, 6 months ago I tried to convince him to like it but he was just like, ehh whats the difference *goes back to liking epic trance* however apparently via his brother mostly he listens to "the good kinds of trance" lol. I gave some cds to him on monday :) it seems I'm no longer the only psy fan at my school :gsmile:, I should ask if he wants to come to earthcore with me. Now, to convert all those hardstyle heads... especially since people realise they get bored of the constant hardness, and get really jaded and end up listening to something like rnb, or worse. I must saev them :gsmile:.

Speaking of drivers license :( I wish I was older, I nearly ended up going to a private 30 or so people thing that was being organised here a while back, however probably shouldn't have mentioned I was 14(now 15 ofc), ah well... I'll get to goto (and most likely help organise) those kinds of things in a few years.

I mean like, they say your supposed to be nostalgic about the music you listen to while little, and I really am. I absolutely love cosmic baby-thinking about myself(remember that from when I was 3) as well as good synth classical/ambient/classic trance in general, however psy/goa is most certainly equally as good, if not a slightly different (and generally preferable, however trance/absolutely relaxing is mindblowing too) to that stuff. Which my dad still kind've prefers, he only really likes the more trancey goa trance, and not psy much at all. He doesn't much like IM-The gathering (although classical mushroom apparently, which I didn't actually like much personally).

[edit] oh funny story I just thought of, I was spamming people on xfire a while back, and it turns out after about 200 people one of them "knew" what goa trance was. Apparently he's into 50 swing dance now:wtf: :stongue: and used to listen to goa trance in highschool, he was "that kid that listen to that awesome music no one else liked" :P. God, i must have missed a few steps, I mean honestly... swing dance? Thats just really sad really, ah well... theres plenty of nice psy community even if hardly anyone I know likes it. I don't wanna be a person who has to find a new genre every 2 months, and end up not liking any of them much at all, I mean getting into pretty much everything is fine, but still need a primary, and psy/goa/classic trance/ambient can certainly do it for me. I'd rather not end up finding myself in the position of mrjolivebingles or something.

/holy , that was a long post
