srsly now, i disagree with your stance on physical discipline.
i'm not saying beat your kids up gratuitously. but i got my wrecked once or twice as a kid. only once or twice, because, I ING KEPT MYSELF IN LINE afterwards. i believe the problem comes when it's all punishment and no communication. no point in having the kid not do something, fearing a slap, if he doesn't understand why that something is wrong.
and don't give me that bullcrap about kids not being responsible for their actions. all of us back when we were little s did some stuff we KNEW was wrong, but we wanted to see if we could get away with it. of course, we were young, dumb, and immature, but it's all part of the process.
i use my cousins as example. 2 year age difference. only thing is the older one is HUGE, the younger one is kinda short and skinny (they share my uncle's facial features, so dun worry). anyways, the younger one used to hit the older one constantly. and no matter how much he was 'disciplined' verbally and grounded, he kept on. then he turned 13. next time he tried, my older cousin slammed him against a wall and said "you aren't a little kid anymore. there are consequences." not the best way, i'll admit, but their relationship changed radically after that day.
