as for the bloody irish... :p
anyways... we have got umpire dicky bird. he is the essence of hard ness, as he has had a cricket ball hit straight at his head, ithas hit him (in the temple) and he still got up and continued to umpire the match.... |

Well I've been Northerner for over a month now, and so far I've noticed the following changes:
1) I've incorporated the word ayup into my everyday vocabulary (even if I don't say it properly :p)
2) I say "mornin'" to people I pass on the street before 9am (10am on weekends)
3) I now drink tea
4) I'm generally colder
5) I can now get through a complete conversation with tu_face, RainbowBrite or goldenarmZ without going "what?" (well, 8/10 times :p)
Things I miss (other than family/friends etc.)
1) The Beach
2) Fred Dinage and his dry irony on Meridian Tonight (they've got this stupid Calandar News thingy up here, with a stupid weather map that makes no sense. The weather girl is fit as tho).
Hrm.... that's about it. I'd say that in general people are friendlier....not that people down South are wankers, you just get more sense of community here and in Sheffield. Grr that aint right either, hard to explain. Goods (such as food etc..) seem to cost the same, but house prices/rent etc.. are a lot less. Salaries up here are slightly less than in the South but not as different as I'd expected. Jason probably notices it more coz he's from Luton which is sort of off-London so the cost of living there is probably a bit higher than it would've been in Bournemouth). |

i wander in here from time to time, found this post really interesting:
1) What does "ayup" mean exactly? Is this a term of agreement?
2) In "Human Traffic", what accent does Moff have? Does cockney mean northern?
3) Do you lot in the north tend to say "d'you know w'ah mean" a lot?
4) Do any of you say "safe, man" a lot?Is this Ali G shiznit? A couple of guys I knew from London said that loads
cheers

Ayup (this is the first place I've seen that it isn't spelt 'ey oop') is a general greeting, like 'how are you'
I can't remember Human Traffic at all, except for wondering why it was set in Wales. A cockney is someone from london (South East)
Yes.
People who say "Safe" are generally into Garage, in my experience. |

LMAO @ Fray :stongue: .
**Washes the RFC out of the tricolour and sells it to some French people Red,white and blue tricolour**
**Sends an invasion force of Leprechauns over to Ibrox** :p
Personal opionions Northerners are my friendlier then Southerners, my dad was at Sheffield Uni in the 70s, and said everyone in that city are sound and are the most hospitable people he's ever met.
North or South, there is slight differences between Scouser Scallies and Cockney dodgy geezers and a fierce rivalry, but Brits are lucky that they don't get this treatment :stongue: . Which I get in Northampton :) must be the people here or something.
*Called Paddy by lot of people (Because my names hard to pronounce)
*Have job vocations of being a Gypsy, a Terrorist, a Builder, a Pub Landlord, a Boxer, or just a vicious drunken so and so.
*Put up with lines after lines of how stupid the Irishman is :stongue:.
It makes me laugh though that is one good thing.
Another thing I find amazing aswell is the UK is such a small place, but the range of accents and life styles is unbelievable, I'm glad we're all unique in a way makes things more fun and intresting :). |

People don't say "ayup" round here. Bare in mind, Sheffield is about 100-150 miles south!
Most people round here would consider Birmingham to be the South. I would say it borders. They're just "middle people" :D |
