The idea of mixes based around locations would be interesting if DJs actually did something significant with it, like incorporating only music from those places.
Instead it's generally just whatever tracks the DJ has been hammering lately plus a booklet with some random pretty photos from the location.

Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me, or me forcing the feeling BUT I really did hear conceptual influences of latin favlor in ISOS: Latin America, and Belearic sounds in ISOS: Ibiza, and even ISOS: Panama gave me the image of Central America.
Like I said, maybe it's all in my head but I hear the influences, they may not be always present in every track but conceptually I always agree with the feeling of the albums along side the choice of location. |

I guess these multiple postings are to be expected, so whatever, I'll go along with it.
From what I heard in the video, those 3 songs, I'm quite interested in getting this album and basking in the beachy sun listening to the melodic goodness. |
And like I did before, I'll plus one ya here too. :toothless |

lol @ the armani exchange t-shirt... no coincidence there for sure.
interesting how quick this went from rumor to production to release... maybe i'm getting older but i used to remember releases taking forever to come out...
i'm still skeptical about the entire 3xcd thing incorporating the entire isos "feel" but i'll reserve my judgements for after listening to the release.
in regards to some post above... what songs on isos 3 made you think of central america?
edit: what happened to the 3xcd? was that scrapped? i'm hearing it's a 2xcd now... |

I think thats unacceptable on a MIX CD. for godsakes polish those transitions or re-do the mix until it sounds right. livesets I can understand but even then I dont sympathize due to his stature. |

I agree !!
i know Tiesto has a good track selection , and can introduce new tracks , but on a MIX CD , the mixing has to be flawless , not doubt about it ..
but you know , i am starting to think , that to him , his mixing might sound flawless ... i mean , who would put out a cd, knowing deep inside , that there is even one , tiny , little mistake on it !! ??
with that being said , i looking forward to the cd as a whole , i am sure he will pull out something good in the end ...
the 3cd story , is that , he will release a special BLCK HOLE tenth anniversary cd , end of this year , that will have new and old material i guess ... |

It's blackhole. This has been planned for months... just no-one leaked anything surrounding the forthcoming release this year. If you do some digging you can find a few other tracks that'll be on it i'm sure. But on the whole i think BH/PTM asked the artists to provide tracks without revealing the project.
That creates no hype, until its mixed down, out there ready for distribution. They could've announced this a couple of months ago, but now the hype will slowly build through this month, before the release... instead of the initial interest (and bitching) dying down before it really picks up any marketing steam pre-release.
3xCD - need to check the Armani Exchange P.R. again, paying attention to the Blackhole : 10 Years Of... CD that is also in their bundled offer.
If you read the BH P.R. you'll be informed that only 1 CD will be in the ISOS style while the second disc will be heavier, following the success of Trance Energy Tijs has a particular nostalgic feeling for the big room stuff again.
Mixing wise - the jury will be out after its released i'm sure. ISOS6 wasn't so badly done, if a bit flat. I'd be looking for quicker mixing without any major flaws from this release. At the time of 5/6 I think it was in the thinking process that a "1 take" effort was more appreciated than a mechanically practiced mix. Looking forwards to this being the opposite (fingers crossed)> |

Now, now, they do tend to open with the sound of waves gently lapping upon the shore...no matter where they are, it seems.
It could be ISOS Switzerland, and the intro will still be the ebbing and flowing of water.
Anyway, ISOS amounts to my most optimistic impressions of Tiesto. I've always found them to fall within the domain that's solidly above average, albeit riddled with a variety of hang-ups that prevent them from actually being great.
As for the mixing, I think we can all expect more of Tiesto's 'on edge' approach (whether intentional or unintentional), which is certainly at least competent on the whole. But considering that the mixing within most Trance mix comps is some of the most uninteresting in the realm of Dance music DJ'ing, it creates few problems for me, as I'm mainly in it for the tracks and well calculated progression.
If I wanted really intricate mixing, I wouldn't be looking to Tiesto (or most of Trance, for that matter). |

The ISOS7 compilation is a 2CD, there's probably just the extra CD coz of Armani Exchange, which has been a partner for half a year now (maybe even a year already).
The rumors first started about 2 months ago, but everyone in the know was asked to keep quiet and just send in their tracks.
Marketingwise this is just yet again spot on by Black Hole, if I had to name something that they're very good at I would say its marketing
That being said, Im looking forward to CD1 as usual (still a sucker for that chilled progtrancy ISOS disc), hearing that CD2 will be trancier is not something I applaud but I guess it applies more to the Asian market |
