To be fair to JBJ, not only are there more cases than the other 5 he listed above, but violence against homosexuals is also speculated to be one of the least often reported crimes (which makes sense, at least in my mind, considering the stigma attached to homosexuality in the U.S. as it is, and the desire of many gay men to stay "in the closet").
They clearly aren't the Jews and we haven't enslaved them (yet), but I'm not so sure that I'm comfortable with slavery and genocide being the point at which we draw the line regarding which cultural and/or minority groups have been so persecuted as to change the social habits of the group as a whole. |

Why don't you look at all the sigs with almost nudy chicks and all the posts with females. Just because they don't say "I'm heterosexual" it doesn't mean they're not acting heterosexual. well of course not. but i also dont think you can claim that the bias against homosexuals in the US is the same kind of barrier that legislative racism was. individual prejudice is a very different thing to systemic bigotry. dont get me wrong, i completely understand that homosexuals are a higher risk group if we're talking violence, and i am one of the few that supports hate crime legislation. i just like things in their correct context.

Yeah except for:
-ban on marriage
-ban on adoption
-ban on preventing blood donations
-lack of discrimination ban
-a gay guy will get bashed anywhere that is 10 miles outside of any metropolis
So it's a lot like racism except racism has laws protecting against it fully.
Gay people are oppressed, and more openly so, than black people today. It's not up to par with discrimination against black people 60 years ago, but let's put it this way, if you try to be yourself by kissing a guy like a normal guy would kiss a girl in any random suburb town, you'll get your ass kicked. I mean kicked. |

LOL....f*ck...I have to agree with you on that. But just keep in mind there's PLENTY of gay people out there that look and act straight and you discount them as straight because they fit into society. If you saw me in public you'd think I'm an idiot hetero jock that abuses women by the way I walk and talk. |

Agreed gay people are oppressed heavily. But if you aren't camp and so on I don't reckon people will be that fussed (and if you are camp they'll just think you're funny). Even in this yokal town.
They will call you by your sexual preference when gossiping about you though! Just as a way of identifying you lol. "Who do you mean... ohh the poof?" not nice... but similar to "the fat girl?" or "one with big teeth?" |
