someone made a point in the toronto thread that people who cheat arent usually looking for something "better" per se, but instead are simply looking for something different, which is a natural instinct in most people. There are so many different instances and reasons we could get into as to why people cheat, and the discussion in that particular thread is very interesting.
Also, to find someone who make you completely happy in ALL categories is impossible and unrealistic (not saying that you should cheat as a result, I am simply making a statement towards your comment).
When you are in a relationship with a person, yes, the individual should make you happy in many aspects. But you also have to learn to take the good with the bad........ and make adjustments and comprimises of the things that you arent necessarily happy with, if you want the relationship to be fulfilling.
It takes work to sift through the frustrating aspects, and if people are always looking for that "perfect" mate, I feel as if they will consistently be dissapointed and frustrated with people never meeting their expactations/standards. |

| i think all everyone here knows that given the right circumstances, its basically even-odds that cheating will go down versus the person standing strong and resisting. |

great thread..
i've been with my girl for about 5 years. It's been the most rockiest i've ever been through in my life. Some GREAT times, but lots of bad. I've given her many chances to fix herself up, but it just doesn't stick to her head. And even after saying that, i haven't even cheated.
People think I'm crazy as for not doing it, even after I caught her talking to another dude behind my back. |
no offense but you're the idiot.
haven't you ever heard the quote "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me"?

i actually kissed michi a few times (i think on 2 different occasions in nyc) when i was still with my ex. lots of people that i still consider friends warned michi about me and told him it'd be better to stay away. (it'll be 3 awesome years in a few months that we've been together now and we're already considering central park as a potential ceremony candidate. :)
relationships/marriage is social construct. we do it because it's normal to do it. same with lots of things if you think about it. women having long hair, men normally short, women wearing skirts and men normally don't. i mean look at the way i've just used the word "normally"... as if it's ABnormal for men to have long hair. and i hate to use normal and abnormal in this way, but i think now the definition of how most of us use normal is just something that's mostly accepted by today's society. or at least western society.
that said, relationships are a blessing if you're with the right person but no matter what, even tho the good times and fun we have way outnumbers the hard times, it's still work. just the name of the game.
also, continuing my first statement thoughts, i believe human beings aren't naturally monogamous. we kind of just started that not so long ago, if you really think about it. homosapiens have been around how many years? and how many years have we begun to have monogamous relationships? yea. |
